Nice. And I'm not going to say a single word about the one kid's low-class contraction and general poor English usage!

Also wanted to thank Paul for the Blue Wasp explanation. I have two monitors running and adjusted for different purposes. Wasn't going to see any blue on the first one no matter how hard I looked. But when I moved the picture next door it became obvious. Thought I remembered the same type of marble from Chad's great series of Pelt posts from not long ago. When I found them, the same thing happened with his shot. If someone could come up with some reasonably inexpensive and easy to use calibration software that somehow automatically made everyone on a board like this see photos exactly the same way.....! ( :

Now if I started a post with "just for fun.." it would mean there's some 'funnin' going on. But that's not going to be the case for everyone. So I have to ask about the Zaboo mibs. Have they been given some 'extra highlights' or something of that nature? Along with the marbles, that base is just fantastic! So much more impressive than three regular stands would be! ( :

I'm a little confused by the name 'Blue Wasp', but it's a great marble. As are all the others here!

Free! What a flashback. Aren't these the 'All Right Now' guys? What can you say about 'Radar Love'? Greatest driving song of all time! 'Born To Be Wild' is great too, but if you actually take a vote it's a pretty distant 'second'. ( :

What Has Effected The Decline In The Price Of Marbles?
kbobam replied to manylittle's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I have a buddy who's wanted to clean out his garage for years. He says there's about a 6 inch space where you can get from one end to the other if you're a small guy like me and you walk sideways. The check sounds good, but please continue to do the business things you do, and also feel free to drink, smoke, eat fried food, and do any other thing you damn well feel like. Retirement can kill you! ( : -
I think I've posted this shot many times. But I'm really enjoying this particular forum, and being able to post my favorite shots all in one place. So hopefully most of you will forgive me, and maybe with luck there will be a few people who haven't seen it. P.S. Marbles are from 'zaboo'. Even the inexpensive ones that I can afford are the best of their kind! ( :

Holy crumpet! Those are down right scary. But they're also 'outrageous' and I kind of like that.

I've been complaining a lot lately. ('Lately' being the past 50 years or so.) So I'm hoping a little 'reverse-sexist self-deprecating' humor will get me back on everyone's good-side! This is from 'Mom', one of my favorite current TV shows.
-
Ha! And a few more after that! Two different situations that are hilarious 'later', and on multiple levels! ...poop. Heehee!
-
A little too exciting! Guess I'll be 'staying up' a little while longer. Like the slight 'overlaps'! Is that a new zaboo photo technique? ( :

They're putting all this computer-style crap on TV now. It makes me want to barf. I couldn't believe it this past holiday season when the networks expected us to watch 'classic' Christmas movies with the addition of animated Santas advertising other shows at the bottom of the screen. Totally sickening. Thanks for the "dammit", Stacy! I used that expression recently and wondered if it would make sense. As you may know, (although you look way too young!) It was used in the 50's and maybe earlier by proper publications as a 'censor-appropriate' alternative to spelling it out properly. I'm particularly thinking of old 'New Yorker' magazine cartoons. Including one of my all time favorites, where a person like you is also yelling at the television. He's apparently watching a commercial, and the caption is: "A quart is a quart, dammit! It can't be a 'big jumbo quart'!"

Whoa! What's up with the first one? That doesn't look 'standard'! Isn't there a math or engineering word for that sort of shape? ( :

What Has Effected The Decline In The Price Of Marbles?
kbobam replied to manylittle's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Hey Steve This might be worthless, but I read a story this morning which talked about how there are all these 'mods' in England. One thing it said was that all of them are nuts about 50's and 60's stuff. Since you just said you have a ton of it, that seemed like enough of a coincidence that I figured I'd say something. So maybe if a British guy wants to buy all your stuff you should hold out for a better price. He'll probably go home and make a poop-load on it! Bob Can't find the story I saw. But here's something like it. I think my story also had older people who probably have more money. http://www.slate.com/blogs/behold/2013/11/08/carlotta_cardana_mod_couples_examines_the_new_generation_of_modernist_couples.html -
Thanks, Steph! This is the sort of thing I find so interesting here! The whole world's excited about this, but they don't have a clue about the details being discussed in our humble forums! ( :

Thanks again. 'Cinemascope' sounds right. It wasn't a 'bad' process. But it always looked to me like the action at the edges (if any) was 'forced' and unnecessary. The more conservative wide-screen of today does a much better job overall. As long as people don't 'stretch' it! ( :

That drawing is almost too much to take in at once. But I like it! Also think the pattern of 'The Long Ring' proves that Jesus liked marbles! I'm not an extremely religious person, as you probably know, but I've always thought the 'fish' is the most perfectly efficient design ever. ( :

Boy! It's really fascinating that something so meaningful for so many people has happened. And that when you get down to it, it's the knowledgeable people here who can best interpret what the entire world is seeing! A big thanks to Bob and M!B$ for the English translations! Winnie, I remember thinking in the first photos I saw that the cat eye style marbles had a 'newer' look to them. And that the more 'earthy' looking single color marbles looked older. But this is from someone who doesn't know what he's talking about. In your last post are you thinking that these 'newer-looking' marbles could be older, but weren't played with, so could still be in excellent condition? Seems possible. We all think of Anne Frank as existing in 'black and white'. And of course that's not the case! ( :

Thanks. I definitely like the slightly wider way things are filmed these days, as opposed to the old 4/3 scale. I can't remember the name of the wide-screen technique Hollywood did for a while way back when. Personally, I thought it was a little too much. But at least everything was 'in proportion'.

Although I'm not fond of violent acts, I understood and enjoyed the story (don't know if it's true) of Elvis actually 'killing' his TV at one point. ( : Like the who/that distinction. Never thought of that one.

My file name for this is 'Dragon Eye'. I have no idea what that is, and since this is a print-screen from the TV, that means they must have mentioned the name or I wouldn't have saved it as such. Does that sound right?

From 'The Simpsons'.

Oh fine! Be humorous about something that causes me great mental anguish! (Okay, that was pretty funny!)

'racetonowhere' looks like a very interesting resource. I think I was lucky to be at a place that emphasized, or at least, didn't downplay language. To this day I consider Latin to be the most valuable part of my education. It's hard to explain this, and would be particularly tough to explain to a young person, whose natural reaction would of course be "are you out of your freaking mind?" 'New Math' is hilarious.
