  1. Nice. Are those hand-gathered, Hansel? Interesting proposition about Albright buying up and relabeling CACs after CACs demise . . . . Is there any evidence that Albright distributed CACs under their own label before then? I wouldn't really be surprised -- MFC sold wholesale to distributors. Other companies did too (to Gropper and Rosenthal, for instance). Can we tell anything from the ads, Steph?
  2. I don't think about patches much, so I'm fairly ignorant on the topic. I just pick up one every now and then 'cause I like it. What do you think this one is? Akro? Vitro? Something else?
  3. Me too. Although I think my orange is a little duller than yours. I think of it as a colored snake in transparent colored glass. I don't have very many of them . . .
  4. Me too. Last thing I liked enough to buy was Talking Heads . . .
  5. Jessica, I would probably have come through your screen if that had been a baby blue snake instead of an auger!
  6. Really, they're just endless, like Bill said . . .
  7. Really. One of the best ever.

    James Alloway marble!
  9. That last one reminds me of a Mike Edmondson marble I have . . . I've gotten a few decent mibs from pawn-masters too, but they seem to have gone off the deep end lately as far as their attributions are concerned. Buyer beware, as usual. Just hope beginning collectors don't get fooled by them . . .
  10. Guineas being hand-gathered, marvered, cut, and rounded by machine has been a very interesting topic on here before . . . maybe Steph can locate the thread.
  11. The opaque swirls don't necessarily have what we would call cut lines -- especially the flames. Some of the transparent swirls -- like the Snottie -- don't have them either. But if you find a "Guinea" without a cutline . . . RUN AWAY RUN AWAY!
  12. Huh. The closest thing I might have to that would be one of those micas that I think of as an oddity more than a type -- a clear colorless mica with a piece of a thin thread of red floating in the interior . . . mine also has a speck of blue in the vicinity. Small enough so that you can't see it from all angles -- it's sometimes hidden by mica. I've read somewhere that some people believe that this kind of thing is a sort of "signature" of the cane maker, but I'm having trouble with that. For lots of reasons. I don't remember ever seeing a mica with a colored smear/stripe/band on the surface . . . but I sure would like to! Maybe someone here can help us out . . .
  13. I'm not sure I even know what you mean by banded micas, so obviously I don't have one. Or maybe I have one, but I don't call it that! Could you post one of yours? I really like micas and would love to see an unfamiliar type --
