  1. Yep, we like them. Or at least some of us do! I think you're right -- that some people started to value them as pretty marbles in themselves, and started looking for them. Also the older, more complicated wirepulls, which apparently are mostly Veliglass too, and are sometimes found with them. Not over here, much, but over in your neighborhood and Winnie's. Making it even harder for low-budget types like me to find them!
  2. The white with green & lilac are the usual ones found over here too. I have one that's white with orange and lilac, but only because I got it from a marble friend in GB who found two, and was tired of listening to me whine & complain about it.
  3. I've never seen these and I'm very much liking them . . .
  4. Thank you! And I think I see one of the green/horsehair ones on the right edge of this pic -- second down from top. Is that right?
  5. I agree with Al -- I think most of the current info we have on Veliglass can be found on this board, mostly thanks to Winnie (thank you again, Winnie!). In addition to searching for Veliglass (try variant spellings, too), you might also want to search using Euro swirls, what they were generally known as before the Amsterdam evidence was found. I think a few may have been passed off as CAC 4-5 years ago, but I'm not sure how many people bought that. Probably a few, but aside from being "flamey," they don't really look much like CAC flames once you've handled a few of both. To me, some of them (a paler, less busy pattern of flames) more closely resemble a few odd Champions I've run across. We don't run across them very much over here, unfortunately, but when they do appear they generally get snapped up pretty fast. I try to be one of the snappers -- as do some others here!
  6. Ron (or anyone else who might know), did Cairo make any opaque-white-based marbles with transparent green ribbons accompanied by oxblood horsehair (or slightly thicker)? I have a couple of that type with patterns that resemble those of the Cairos that have a kind of "shepherd's hook" ribbon on them . . . On another note, could you post, say, your favorite five of the Cairos you posted elsewhere?

    Yes? No?

Thank you all! I sifted through my Pelt box last night and discovered that the new Pelt (yay!) looked perfectly at home -- even relaxed -- next to my one and only copperhead. How nice to learn stuff . . .

    Yes? No?

OK, I'm feeling much better now. I didn't quite have the nerve to say what I thought the "something else altogether" might be. Probably because I'm not as familiar with MK as I should be, so I kept thinking "well, for all I know, it could be, I guess, even though it looks like a Pelt to me . . ." Thanks for posting the link, Steph --

    Yes? No?

I heard you say Pelt with a strange sense of relief. I'm not crazy I'm not crazy I'm not crazy. I can't get the pics to save for me in a larger format, but It was ebay #301619370377. The pics there are much bigger . . . I'd appreciate any ideas or opinions - - -

    Yes? No?

I'm barely literate in MKs, I just bought this marble because I thought it was pretty. Mainly because of the patch, it called to my mind the Berry Pink. Sort of, anyway. Now that I have it in hand, it's a little stranger than I thought. The base has a light blue-ish cast -- doesn't look white at all in normal light -- and backlit it is very heavily opalescent. I don't know if it would be a Berry Pink variant or something, or not. Maybe something else altogether. What do you think? (sorry for the small photos -- they're all I could get off of ebay)
  11. This is great! Before I saw it, I only had two Cairos, to my knowledge. Now I know I have a few more! Yay!
  12. I think maybe you should run them by us, Dave!
  13. And BTW, those two boxes are insane, Cheese -- If you really look at each row, there are some interesting variants! I'm really liking what looks like a brown cork on white . . .
  14. Wow -- is that almost kinda-like a snake, Bill? I think their variety (like that of Pelt Rainbos) is what makes corks dangerous for me . . . Two recent varieties I couldn't resist:
  15. Those are great -- they look like some that Bert had . . .
  16. I remember these! And they also made sailing ships . . .
  17. Sorry. Hehhehehe. Actually I just stumbled over this one. Not 100% sure I would have noticed it if you hadn't called them out, Darla! Maybe if I find another one . . .
  18. Anemic Berry Pink? Or just Cousin Pink? Or . . .
  19. Sure looks that way to me. Now on the hunt for the other kind . . .
  20. I finally found one, although it's not actually in my sticky little hand yet . . .
