  1. I recently made that marble using, guess what?, milli frit! I got the inspiration from this thread - thanks to you all!!!!!
  2. Would you consider this marble a Guinea? It's the same marble with light reflections on it.
  3. Hi everyone, I just woke up...lol Usually a well known comtemporary marble maker keeps their "secrets" to themselves and leaves people like me trying to figure how they "did that." I am one that tries not to duplicate others designs and make my own stuff. But, to venture a guess, I'd take a football shaped clear glass and horizontally stripe it until it was covered with color. Then, starting at the center of the football shape, heat it till it began to run downward, twisting the entire shape to allow it to spread evenly. Allow that to cool then heat the right side and allow it to move in the opposite direction until satisfied, allow that to cool. Move to the left side and repeat what I did on the right side to match the pattern. Hence, the Geometric pattern. Then alter this with sand basting what you want to alter. Does this make any sense? lol
  4. anybody want to let me know please????? I am wondering if one uses the grinding technique, do the pontils change too and get removed? Thanks
  5. I have been asked what an altered marble like these would cost at a show. I have no idea - anybody want to venture a guess on what I might charge for one? Thanks for your help. Rich
  6. I'd love to play - if YOU have extras.... send them my way and let's see what I can come up with (assuming you'd like them altered!). PM me and I'll send you my snail addy and you give me yours to send them back to. Maybe you might include some I can keep if possible? Maybe? I am hoping we can trade - like, for example, you send 16 marbles and I break them into sets of 4 and send 3 altered marbles back and keep one? Does that sound fair?
  7. David - I am honored that you liked my work. I did alter the design to make the "S" shape and it was a bit tricky too! Imay not be able to ever do that again as hand work never is the same at any time no matter how hard one tried to reproduce the work. Because all I was doing was playing with glass, I didn't shoot the little marbles before altering them I am afraid. I did make an artist's decision on which part of the little Jabo I wanted to not be buried in the middle of the 1" one.
  8. as you can see, i L O V E this marble B E S T because it has an "S" on it - meaning Santa!!!!!!!!!!! 2nd set of pix of the marble So, what do you think of my alterations?
  9. Here is pix #4 from marble #1 - for some reason, it wouldn't allow me to attach it even though it was the same size as the other 3 pictures???
