  1. "Mib" is supposedly Latin for marble.

Safe to call 'em mibs even at 1".  :)

I try to make a habit of calling the 1"-er a boulder.  I recognize it when someone else calls it a shooter though.  The reason I try not to to call it a shooter is because in tournament play, the max size allowed on the shooter is 3/4".   But sometimes I go with the flow and call the bigger ones shooters.

I don't personally call transparent based marbles "flames".  But obviously some do!  It sure is flamey.  If that base were opaque, I think you'd be seeing your four tips.  (Doesn't have to have the tips in every view, just one.)

  2. That'd be my guess.

Interesting one.  Like it wants to be an earlier one colorwise, but moving more firmly into the rainbo era with the structure.  I'd peg it at mid-30's to maybe the 40's.

  3. Did you try to attach pix?  They might be too large.

If the purple is amethyst, that could mean Heaton or Marble King.

Lavender could be Vitro or Marble King.

The most purply one I can remember seeing -- I think was a Vacor de Mexico.

Hopefully we can get those pix.

  4. Is this the baby blue one you mentioned?  The structure of that (the small u-shaped cutline) together with the colors indicate that this one is a modern Asian marble.   We call it an Imperial, because the Imperial Toy Company is one of the companies which distributed them in America.
