  1. My first summer in our present house was 2017.  And that's the first year I had a garden.  Not a lot of space.  And I always say I'll keep it small, but I keep making it bigger than planned.  Started seeds last week, including tropical milkweed.  (We don't tend to plant outside until Memorial Day in these parts.)

So of course today my cat got into the seedlings in the mini greenhouse in the livingroom window.

  2. I am fine with that being Marble King. I have been disappointed that I haven't been able to find 1" Marble King vaseline glass in my stores in the attic.   I was sure I had quite a lot of it.   Maybe I sold it.

I still have many of the 5/8" version which Marble King made.

Modern marbles which I bought from someone selling Marble King in bulk in around 2005.

West Virginia swirl.  I have seen some fluorescent Ravenswood game marbles, if I recall corrctly, but this marble appears larger than a game marble.  So right now I'm considering Alley and Ravenswood but I'm not in the top 10 of the WV swirl people you'll find around the forums.  Ron Shepherd was #1 but we just lost him. :(

That Ravenswood thread you linked to in another thread today made me think of this marble again. :)

  4. I was going to give her Pelt on the right, but since I didn't know who made that left so I hesitated to post.

On the left I was thrown by the two-tone appearance of the blue, but maybe it's the same shade just with some ribbons running deeper than the others. Immaterial.  Doesn't tell me anything about the maker either way.  Just struck me.

Aventurine sparkles aren’t always that easy to see. Please see attached photo of aventurine obelisk. You can see the sparkles but they are subtle.

As with the mica discussion earlier, your familiarity with the stone version is forming a bit of an obstacle to  understanding the appearance of the glass version.    (Edit: Is that a stone obelisk?  It's definitely different from the glass typically seen in marbles.)

Chad's photo shows what a Shimmering Spruce will look like.  The Spruce aventurine is different from the mineral.  And it will be clearly visible at the surface of the marble.

Your ribbons have a depth pointing to an older Alley or a different maker.
