I second that!!! It's great to be seeing them again!! Hey Joe... At one point, I had a link to your site... I've apparently lost it. Could you please post it again?? Thanks!!
-
I know the date on this is a few months old, but Bert Cohen sent the story out, folded into his holiday greeting cards... Roll of a Die, Draw of a Marble...

Oooooops!!! Wait a minute.... I lied..... I did get one from a Dirty Dawg!!!! Thanks T!!!
-
Wayyyyy Cool, Bob!!!

DAMN!!!!! This is the first Christmas in at least the last hundred and fifty, or so years, that I didn't get a SINGLE marble!!! Losing Paul Gerson this year (Wally's secret marble connectiona) has taken a serious toll!!

Anyone See This Site Before? [Edited: Rubylane.com]
Scoop replied to Akro gatherer's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
I was a dealer on Ruby Lane a few years ago... Didn't sell much... I did buy some stuff and all went well... Brian, type out what you want the title to be... I think I can fix it. -
Hey Chill, Griff!!! There's no way in hell I'm movin' back to Mass!!! LOL Squam is nice... But, you can have it, if I can have Sunapee...
-
I think we can all agree on that... But.... Forgers have been around in every single aspect of business where there's money involved... I don't know of a single one that they have destroyed, yet... Anyone who collects is expected to know what they are buying and keep up on what's going on in that field. If keeping up is too difficult, then Galen's advice is the plain and only answer. No one said it was easy!!! PS... Thanks Galen, Bill & all others who commented on the Guinea... I also felt it was not correct (REALLY!!! I'm not just saying that!!! LOL) But, I wanted to hear the detailed reasons why, by people who really knew.... Cuz, I didn't.... LOL

Hey Pete, I knew we had a Brit here not long ago.... I just couldn't remember the ID. He hasn't been in for quite a while. I know he started an international board. I joined, but had a hard time with it technically... Anybody know how to contact Chris??

Next time I'm in town, I'll try that!! My Mom always loved to go to Stowe, but she's gone, now... Now, when I go, it's usually with my Dad, to the Ski Museum... He's a Tenth Mountain Ski Trooper and from time to time, they attend events there. I was a dealer at the Quechee Gorge Village for many years (until the fees outweighed the profits...) But, I never made it to Simon Pearce!!! I want to do that some day, too!!! Also, the Teddy Bear Factory... My Mom took my kids a few times, but I haven't made that one yet... I pick them up at sales whenever I see them and have quite a collection!!! Check out Magic Hat Brewery, too!! One of the owners is also a 10th Mtn. Brat!!

It works for me!!!! LOL Damn John!!! Not only will you not be at Wheaton, but you'll be up here, while I'm down there!!! My folks built their retirement home on the northern shore of Lake Champlain. I'm hoping to ski Smugglers Notch (on the backside of Mt. Mansfield from Stowe) with my Dad, sometime before Dustin goes back to school... Be sure to have a lunch or dinner at The Shed... Visit the Ben & Jerry's "Home Base" between Rte. 89 and Stowe and just for the fun of it, drive through the Mountain Pass between Stowe and Smugglers... It may be rte 108, I'm not sure... I'm sure we can propose many toasts to your having a fine trip!!! Will Do!!

Great to see you John!!!! Have a Very Merry!!! Here's to the Maplewood, June 2010!!! Check This Out!!!

Cool Beans, Craig!!!!

And that's my weakness.... I know a lot of glass looks completely different when back-lit... But, I don't know enough about Guineas to be able to say that's the only problem with this... I just wanted to see if the feeling went deeper... Apparently it does. I thought it would, but I also thought it was worth the question.... Ahhh... That's the way I feel about REAL Guineas!!! So.... That puts this one in the "Under $1.00 box!!! ROFL
-
Great News Leroy!! Someone was bound to miss 'em!! Back atcha!!!! Have great holidays!!!
-
Ann, at first, I wanted to TOTALLY agree with that statement!! That thing looks like a WRECK!!! But then.... Consider that it's back-lit in every picture... The colors are totally screwed up and it's just an incredible mess... But, is there ANY possibility that it could be a victim of terrible photography??? I personally don't like Guineas and don't own one... So, I don't know much about the cut lines and patterns, which would probably make it easy to settle my question, here. I'm just wonderin' if the backlighting could be deceiving it's real look???
-
LOL.... OK, I really don't know... When I opened it, I thought it looked kinda good... But, there is a lot of copy work going on and it only gets better, every day... I know this guy is known for playing games, so let's put that aside and say we only have the marble to work with for info, here.... I'm curious to know what it is about it that makes so many feel it's not CAC... And, Kokoken... I'm curious to know why you think it's the real deal... Let's put the seller aside and make it a learning thread.... If I had all the time I needed to do it, I would LOVE to set up a contemporary ID site... Not geared for the "negative." But, simply a site that shows ALL different artists, their work, their signatures, progression, etc... From that, all info could be gathered, whether for the benefit of collecting, or the benefit of learning old from new.... Some day......

Happy Birthday to my very favorite PETA member!!!! (People Eating Tasty Animals)

This was the one I really liked most.... On the right I expected it would get sniped higher, but it didn't....

There is a free alternative to paying ebay for pictures!! Use Photobucket and list the photos in you description... Once the pictures are in the "bucket" run your cursor over the photo and a window drops down. Click on "Direct Link" and it is automatically copied as an http / jpg type address... Surround it with.... (replacing the stars with the address) <img src=**************> and add it to your discription, using the HTML format tab and "POOF" you get a free picture!! This info used to be buried in the catacombs of ebay's plethora of tutorials... Now that they sell photo space, I wonder if it still is!! 15¢ for a picture sounds like a deal... But, if I list 15 auctions a week, with an average of 4 pictures each... I do use one of theirs for free, but I copy it myself, just in case ebay's system has a glitch.... I save $9.00 a week.... $36.00 a month... And, if I ever had the stamina to make it 52 solid weeks, $468.00 a year!!! 15¢ adds up quick!! Does Auctiva cover the 40¢ charge for a 10 day auction?? If so, that could be a deal.... Galen, that's just it... There is no better option. And for the moment, they know it... It would take a massive marketing splash to get enough people to switch away from ebay to another venue... BING?? Hmmm... It would have to be a place that the vast majority of people would already be very familiar with... Craig's List may be the closest contender... After almost 15 years in existance and 10 years as a national / Global network, it's ALMOST gotten to be a fraction of the household word ebay has become... How do we know it may be ebay's closest threat??? Ebay already holds 25% of the holdings and is represented by one of three board members...

I was watching that and a bunch of others in that group that closed tonight... 'Hopin' no one else had noticed.... Silly me.... LOL
-
That first batch is pretty darn good!!! If they were mine I think I'd just tweek the contrast up a bit... Then, I'd have to crop 'em, cuz I like doin' it!!! LOL Check these out...

She said she'd do it and she DID!!!! I never in the WORLD would have thought I'd respond with a positive feedback for this buyer... But, by keeping cool and co-operating with her, while, at the same time, being a little firm about her following that ebay advice for the good of all involved... We both learned a lot and parted with a cyber "Handshake..." The ebay system is such a friggin' MAZE, I can't say that I covered the whole thing... But, I did what I felt was sufficient searching on the subject of feeback reversal and sent her these links.... Feeback Withdrawl and Removal This gives the guidelines for removal and our situation didn't fit any of these... and How Feedback Works With this quote highlighted.... Have I always been incorrect about the meaning of "Permanent?" Or, am I just foolish enough to take it for it's full meaning??? Kinda reminds me of the meaning of the word "Mint" in the description of a marble!!! LOL At any rate, she contacted ebay and Low and behold!!! REMOVAL is the wrong word!! She must ask for a REVISION.... Ahhhh..... One might think they would include that in those previous links!!! The feedback is permanent, but it CAN be revised!!! Hellooooooo!!! I can't say that I wouldn't have been able to find that revision info before she asked... But, it sure was SIMPLE to find it after. So simple, I just can't believe that it was there all the time... But... Maybe I'm wrong... So, my neg was revised to a positive. She apologized and I thanked her for a learning experience!! (Even if it did come at a very busy time, when I didn't especially need additional tutalage!!) Just when you think you know what your doing, they change all the rules.....
