  1. I don't think so, must be "ausgezeichnet"? Cees
  2. I had a jar with marbles, at the age at 4-5 years. My childhood was not as it should be, my parents, father, were very stringent, many times I got punished and beated by my father, for something I didn't do. As comfort, I retrieved to my room and spended many hours with my jar with marbles, sorting them on color or size, or just look at them. One day my marbles were gone, my father gave them all to my brother, because he had to make a lamp with marbles on, or in it, for school. Lucky for me, after all, my brother didn't use the older marbles, but gave them back to me. From that day I started collecting old marbles. Then, years later, I met Jeroen and he showed me some photo's of his collection. I always thought I was the only idiot in Holland, collecting marbles, but there was another one also. Jeroen told me about the old handmades, glass and china and by him I got really infected. Untill today, my marbles are very important to me, but thank God, not for the same reason as they were in my childhood. Cees.
  3. Hi J, thanks for sharing, very nice marble. Didn't know you had also one of these??? I also got an Onionclown, with white base and many colors, just like youre's. I found it in Holland, 7-8 years ago, where did you find this one? C.
  4. Here in Holland, the word Freedom, is a very hot item at this moment, because of the elections in June. Freedom is very important to me. I'm just 45, so wasn't there during the WW II, but I think we have to remember always the man and woman, who fought for us and even gave their lives for a free Holland. A lot of foreighn soldiers, also from the US, died here during the liberation of The Netherlands. I hope they didn't die for nothing, and we'll always be free. Cees.
  5. Is there a little space in the list for a collector from Europe, I vote for Jeroen. Cees.
  6. Al, the yellow one I've found in an antikstore in Schleusingen, Thüringen, the two reds in Holland, they look simulair, I don't think they are US-made, but German. Just found these two old "Germans" in Holland, in a jar with more old hand- and machinemades. Nice catch I think? Cees.
  7. There's at least one more that "survived", I've seen one in Lauscha, but the condition of that one was poor, your's is much better. C.
  8. Maybe there's a link to Holland? Pasen = Easter, Paas ei = Easter egg. Cees.
  9. Oké you've done some good homework, I have to believe you, and I also agree with you and others, that there are sellers who know that they are selling a fake marble, because they have, or should have the knowledge of the item they sell. That's why I wondered a while ago, when I saw an auction of a marble that was at least very disputable, if not fake. I even wondered more, that I never saw that auction on this board, nobody saw it?? I will not give a link to the auction, I've seen before, a few years ago, what happens here if you do. But I think that this auction was never placed on this board, because of the seller. Nobody hat the guts to attack the seller(?), and that's alright with me, maybe I also haven't it. But please stop with this comedy, placing the one auction, but not the other. Maybe I'm wrong and this auction was placed, but I never saw it, in that case, I'm an idiot with, with a very great mouth and have to say sorry to all of you now, but I've never saw this auction here. This is all I have to say about this subject. Cees.
  10. Gold medal for Nicolien Sauerbrei, with snowboarding. The first Olympic medal on snow for Holland ever, we are very proud. Cees.
  11. What do you mean with "extras"? I've got one of those Ajax marbles, but I don't see anything extras?
  12. To bad, Jeff doesn't post here anymore, he has a hughe knowledge about marbles, also about the European machine mades. He always was clear, but fair in his comments. Good to hear he's doing alright now. Cees.
  13. Thanks Sue, yes Sven is a real hero here in Holland, but there are more real champions at the games, I saw Shani Davis, who also is very populair in Holland, winning the 1000 meter, it looks so easy, how he does it. Just like Sven, he's a great sportsman. Cees.
  14. To day all the snow is gone,it will be spring soon. winnie I'll keep you on that, I've gotta lot of work to do, but the weather must be good for that. Cees.
  15. Hi Winnie, very nice picture, but as I can see, you can't skate overthere?. Cees.
  16. Youre right, if every disputable marble was picked up here, it could be boring at last. Also in Holland I've seen fakes. I think all over the (marble) world these kind off marbles will show up. Even offered by people you never thought they would. I think, that if you want to show the one, you have to show the other to. Or else stop with it. C.
  17. What I don't understand is: why should somebody sell a fake marble on eBay, while he's member since sept-03 and has a 100% 1607 feedback? If it is a fake, does the seller know it?
  18. Hi Steph, I don't think it's made by a guy in Lauscha, but in the surrounding area. I think what J means, is that he got info over these marbles from a guy in Lauscha. Cees.
  19. Hi Cees, In the first photo, on the right side there are two marbles with large Black Spots on them... One of them has rings around the black spots, and one has only black spots... Now, refering to the one with only the black spots, it has 5 black spots 2 of which seem to be on the poles, and there are 3 spots around the center (equator)... Am I correct??? Can you give me any info on that marble??? I have a twin to that one, and was at a loss with trying to identify it... Thank-You Much... "Gene" The marble with the black spots, without the rings, is indeed called "Spotted Dick", the one with the rings is a "solid" bullseye, a rare type of these kind of marbles. Spotted Dick's were made in Germany (Thüringen), as far as I know, during the late 1800's- early 1900's. I think it's glazed earthenware, not china. Cees.
  20. Hi Winnie, youre right, most of them are not made in Holland. I think more than 90% of my collection, hand- and machinemade glass also, I've found in Holland, that's why I call them Dutch marbles. Cees.
  21. Cees, great flowers!! The mottled pottery ones are great!! I think your right about rarety.. They look kinda familiar to me, but I don't know why or where I may have seen one (Probably at Bert Cohen's) If they were made local (by country) and not exported.... They would be really tough to find outside of the Netherlands.... Thanks Sue, the large one of the mottled pottery is called: "Dutch variegated" clay marble, and they also could be found in America, but also there they are rare. Here more Dutch non glass marbles, most of them are "diggers", found at several places in Holland. Cees.
  22. Hi there, here some non glass marbles found in Holland, the second pic are two Jasper types, with brown-red stripes, the large one, nearly 3cm, is made around late 1700- early 1800. This marble is made of two colors clay, the brown clay shrunk into the white-, while baking the marble. This type of pottery was common in Holland during that time, but marbles like this are rare, very rare I think? The small one is, almost for sure, made after 1820. Cees.
  23. Beautifull, all these non glass marbles, realy enjoy it, thanks all. Scott, I've send you a PM. Cees.
