  1. "Transitional Oxblood Onionskin"?, how's those Guttas Dave?
  2. That is nice, I don't think I've seen that colour combo before?
  3. Yes, yes and yes, totally agree with all you said, that's all I'm trying to say?, many of these marbles are 1920/30's, strange colours with experimentation, as for the "English style" I agree 100%, the best example to demonstrate this was a solitaire board which sold yesterday in the UK ebay for £500+, all bright later marbles, oh and original board was Bakelite, not produced till 1920's I think?, so no I don't doubt marble Alan, nor do I doubt you, just the marbles are not 1880/1900, that's all?, just to add, I do like you're marbles and the way you behave on this board is top draw!, I thought you may have ripped in to me? I respect that, and I've learnt a bit today, so all is well. Edit:-why do sellers like the image above, use baby wipes or wet their marbles before photo's?, I hate that?, just scummy in my opinion?
  4. Hi again, great info, the 2 you bought together, really do sit together, I sold an Onionskin, not a blotty EOD like the one you have, but the colours were a good match, I've seen a large Blue EOD similar to the one you have which was sold as a group of 5-6 a few years ago for a lot of money, like you say, if you listed those on ebay, I don't think I'd bid with confidence on buying as antique marbles? They just don't seem quite right to me, sorry, tin hat on at the ready!
  5. They are great marbles, did the marbles come from the same source, maybe the same maker, the pontils look very similar, also the way the glass was worked looks similar in all the marbles?, that's not to say they are old or not, just to say in a group of such marbles, would there not be quite a variation in Pontil marks? Ps also you can pick out at least one colour from each marble which is shared with another in the group?
  6. That is a contemporary marble though, is it not? ^^
  7. Similar, do they have a foggy surface, what are the inclusions?
  8. Hi, I bought a vintage lot hoping they were micas, sadly not, they have a deliberate foggy surface, not wear, and strange inclusions?
  9. Ah thanks!, if I decide to have it restored, and find someone willing to do so, I'll post some pics. Cheers.
  10. Ok, fair enough, and yes I do enjoy buying and selling, however I probably sell 1% of the marbles I buy. If I wanted to resell the damaged marble, maybe I would of posted on "Buy, sell, trade", that's all? I've dealt with a number of people On this board, all will tell you I'm more than fair.
  11. Ok Steph, still odd, I didn't mention selling the marble on? Why presume so? I don't see responses like that in other posts?, maybe I'm not welcome here for some reason?, it's totally lost on me?
  12. Hi Steph, I'm totally confused and really upset that you would think I would resell a marble like this?, why on earth would you think I'd do that?, really odd thing to say, I think you've got me all wrong?
  13. Hi all, I don't think grinding to the deepest point of the chips would affect the core, it's such a shame as 2/3 of the marble is in great shape!, does anyone fill the chips, ie like a car window would be fixed for chips?
  14. Hi, can anyone save this lovely onionskin, it has a lot of damage, the worst being 2 large deep chips, it is 2"+, i guess quite a lot of glass would have to be removed.Any help would be great?
  15. Hi Galen, I received a lovely big hand made today, I was aware it had damage, when I looked through the clear package my eyes lit up!!,... Until I flipped it, and saw the deep chips, my heart sank!! Anyway, my theory is, so many large hand made's have huge damage!!, I think the kids picked on the big hand made's, as soon as they had damage, "let's smash them up", most large marbles have inpact marks on mainly one area?
  16. Yes..... Ok guys I see this marble just looks wrong, wrong, wrong, even a comedy photo, but surely an innocent mistake?, I judge others as I would like to be judge?, much love!!
  17. Wow, help me out Girlies?, these strange posts aren't helping my mental well being out?, is there a subliminal message in there somewhere?, or maybe not?, ha ha?
  18. I was watching this one, it's beautiful, and a bargain IMO, may never see the like again.
  19. Too late girlies!, oh well, at some point I may fall lucky and have an actual conversation with someone in real time? Never mind I'll just go back to reading up on strange shapes etc? ha Ha.
  20. I agree, really pretty marbles, I've seen some of his runs on ebay, some really nice marbles, but never really took much notice. I will now!
