  1. He skipped town after stealing all the proceeds of his last few auctions from the consignors. 10's of thousands of dollars. I personally have talked to a few of them so this is not gossip. Most of the marbles sold were paid for and not delivered to buyers either. He has been tracked down to somewhere in Tenn. His house is empty and he's moved out. DO NOT buy from this guy. He is a first class jerk and crook. Should be in jail for these crimes committed over state lines. I don't know if legal action is pending or not. Craig
  2. These came in from Canada today. 11 same cane ribbon lutz marbles. They were all found together at a farm auction. All are 1 1/8" to 1 3/16". I put a 5/8" marble in the pic for reference. A few moons here and there but who's complaining? Amazing group! (Don't know why the clear ones have an amber tint in this pic) Enjoy! Craig
  3. Many remember the discussions over the California Sulphides that turned up a number of years ago. This is not to open up any type of debate about them. I was just wondering if anyone knows of any examples of these that might be for sale? Thanks, Craig
  4. bump...marbles end tonight, box on Tuesday. Thanks, Craig
  5. Has little sharp points all over, I would say porcupine.
  6. Here is a group of ringers I found together in a jar. All are 9/16". Craig
  7. Mike, those are Akro Flinties. They are found in the 150 and 200 tins. The Peltier game marbles have never been opalescent that I have seen. Craig
  8. I have some amazing auctions running this week. Buymarbles eBay Auctions One of the most rare box sets I have personally seen or owned. A National Onyx Gropper Salemans Sample Kit. eBay canceled the auction on me today for not saying 'PayPal' 50 times in the listing. Here is a link to the new listing. Onyx Box Auction A really nice Peltier Blue Galaxy w/ oxblood Thanks for looking! Craig
  9. Here is an actual piece of papyrus from ancient Egypt. Looks like a game similar to marbles. Pretty cool image. Craig
  10. Here is a page from the March 1881 Harper's New Monthly Magazine. The article is a discussion of the roots of Albany, NY. and the Dutch who settled there. Notice the origin of the word 'knickerbocker'. The first settlers were there in around 1615-1623. Interesting stuff... Craig
  11. I recently came across a copy of The Vocabulary of Marble Playing from 1955. It was distributed by the American Dialect Society. I have scanned a copy into PDF format for anyone interested. It is fascinating reading. The download is approx. 9 megs. Vocabulary of Marble Playing Enjoy! Craig
  12. Actually, there have been one or two 0 bidders in the last few months that register with new names and are running up numerous marble auctions. Alan, a few of mine and others are having the problem. I have been canceling all 0 bidders on my auctions and banning the user. However, they just pop back up with a new name. In this instance, it isn't the seller doing it. It's just someone trying to mess with peoples auctions. Man I wish I had that much time on my hands. Craig
  13. My favorite is the English color onionskin. It is mint and 1 5/8". Here it is next to a 5/8" marble for size comparison. Craig
  14. These two divided cores are really unusual. I have only seen these two with these thick ribbons like this. Anyone else have similar? The largest is polished, the smallest is mint. Craig
  15. Took a few pictures today of some recent handmade aquisitions...The largest ones are over 2". Enjoy! Craig
  16. Must be plug night! Lol... 17. Just got this interesting bag. Has what looks to be a Gropper / Peltier or CA box of slags on it. It is small at around 3" x 2". The material is similar to silk. It is imprinted on the back of the bag with Chinese characters that read "Made in USA". (Thanks Hansel). It came with Peliter rainbos and one 7/8" blue slag. Also interesting is it says that the onyx marbles come in 12 color variations. That's alot of colors for slags? Anyway, just thought you would enjoy seeing it. Craig
