  1. Jezzz, you guys have all kinds of new tricks to share. Water and black lights. I have had some very nice marbles for many years but it's starting to seem like I never really looked at them. The water does bring it out. Thank you very much!
  2. I will say Master then, they were in a small lot I picked up on ebay. There were a few benningtons and the master sunburst I posted along with a few other gems. I really like them.
  3. This picture doesn't do it justice.
  4. I have two marbles, 1/2" they look black from a foot or so away. When I hold a light behind them and shine it towards myself there dark red and clear as can be, absolutely nothing in them. But when I shine the light from the front and about three inches away there is the most beautiful pattern inside. Like there is another marble inside, it looks like a onionskin tapering to both poles. But hold it up to a light and it's nothing more then a red clearie. Can't seem to get a picture of the pattern. Hope your all not laughing at this point.

  8. Thank you all for the great explanations. I've seen the stria! you guys always leave me with a smile.
  9. Oh my, that's a beauty!
  10. Ok Bob, is it visible in the clear glass? Like heat waves on the deserts of New Mexico? thank you!

What ever it is its sitting on a winter mint life saver.
  13. Lol, subconsciously yes I'm sure. Lately marbles is all I think about. And I'm not kidding. There worse then drugs.
  14. My bad, it's (Stria) I found it. It's elongated imperfections in glass due to unequal densities of glasses used. Stria cause variation in intensity of hues.
  15. I just have to ask, what the hell is (Strata) In marbles? The same as in geology?
  16. Thanks to everyone of you for all the help. I'm enjoying this very much. I wonder how you all can so patiently deal with uneducated newbies like me. Thanks again Bud

  21. This marble is 5/8", it has a smooth, melted pontil on one tip of the white swerl and a rough pontil on the other end. It's amber with white swerl about 1/16" under the surface. The surface is wavy. ??
  22. K, thanks! It's easy to have lots of old marbles when your old yourself. Haha
  23. Oh, it's a little over 7/8"
  24. One more please and I'll stop bothering you.
  25. Lol, the marble cops. That's funny! Thanks Steph, your the best!
