DEAR MARBLE FRIENDS, THE PLACE TO BE ON COLUMBUS WEEKEND, OCT. 9-10, 2010 WAS THE NORTHEAST MARBLE MEET AT THE MARRRIOT HOTEL IN MARLBOROUGH, MA. GLASS ARTISTS, DEALERS, COLLECTORS ALL CAME TOGETHER FOR ONE OF BERT'S BEST MARBLE MEMORIES. PEOPLE TRAVELED FAR AND WIDE FROM CONN., DELAWARE, ILL., LOUISIANA, MAINE, MICHIGAN, MARYLAND, N.H., N.J., N.Y., OHIO, PA., R.I., TENN, TEXAS, VERMONT, VA., AND W. VA. LOTS OF GOOD STUFF WAS IN THE AUCTION AND THERE WERE A LOT OF BIDDERS GOING AFTER THE RARE MARBLES. ON SATURDAY RIGHT AFTER THE SCRUMPTIOUS LUNCHEON BUFFET WE HOSTED FOR ALL. IT WAS ALSO A CELEBRATION OF BERT'S 79th BIRTHDAY. ON SUNDAY COMPLIMENTARY CONTINENTAL. BREAKFAST WAS THERE FOR THE DEALERS AS THEY SET UP THEIR BOOTHS IN THE MAIN BALLROOM. BUSINESS WAS BRISK AND WE HEAR PEOPLE DID WELL. MANY THANKS AND MUCH APPRECIATION TO HELPERS, SUE COOPER, PAULINE CIARAMITARO, ELLIOT PINCUS. AND OTHERS. BERT DID A SUPER JOB OF ADVERTISING, E-MAILING AND WRITING TO COLLECTORS. THE SCUTTLEBUTT IS THAT THIS WAS THE BEST ORGANIZED AND MOST ENJOYABLE MEET IN 30 YEARS. BERT'S BEEN DOING THIS A LONG TIME --PRACTICE DOES MAKE PERFECT. THERE WAS MUCH WARMTH, COMRADERIE AND ALL-AROUND GOOD FEELING SHARED BY ALL. BERT HOPES TO STAY WELL AND TOP THIS IN 2011, HE WILL TURN 80. SO HAVE A SUPER YEAR AND BE THERE! BEST REGARDS, ROSALIE COHEN

  5. Edna & Family, I am so sorry to hear of Weldon's death; my heartfelt condolences are with you and your family. It's important to remain strong and to remember your friends & family are there for you. May God Bless and keep you strong.......sending prayers.
  6. Heya Bill. I believe that your marble was made by Scott Meyer, aka 'Old Marble Nut'. Here's a LINK for you: Old Marble Nut Hard to tell from your picture, but could be a Swirled EOD (End Of Day)
  7. The LINK is over at Glass Addiction too.........more votes a comin'!! Way to go.....cool car!!!
  8. One other great glass artist comes to mind. John Gentile is no longer with us, but the background designs on these two sulphides remind me of John's work to some extent. Maybe you can send the pictures to the following eBay seller, and maybe they can help you further. Good luck. John Gentile
  9. These two could possibly be Tom St. Clair Sulphides as opposed to Joe St. Clair. Take a look here: Tom St. Clair Marbles
  10. Correction......could be Tom St. Clair as opposed to Joe Rice.
  11. OK let's see......the only Contemporary Marble Artist that I know of that made a sulphide using the same Polar Bear figure is Kris Parke, out of Cortland, Ohio. Now, Kris learned how to make sulphide marbles from the great Andy Davis, also from Ohio (West Farmington). Since Kris began making marbles approximately 2004 or 2005, my guess is that these sulphides are not his, but could very well be Andy's. If I judged strictly by the green & white background's on these pieces, I might suggest glass artist Joe Rice, a nephew of Joe St. Clair. All speculation of course, but good guesses I'm sure.
  12. Not sure if you all saw and read this GREAT interview with Alan Basinet(MarbleAlan). Enjoy!! Interview from 'The Collectors Weekly'

  19. Heya Gary.........John Gilvey is a great glass artist and works out of a very old refurbished firehouse in Beacon, NY. The name of his studio is Hudson Beach Glass. John's son Luke is also a glass artist and he does exactly what you have described above. Take a look at his studio, which is fittingly named Eternity Glass. Here you go: Eternity Glass Good luck!!
  20. Various views of a 'Wolf & Snowflakes' Murrini Marble made by Ken Schneidereit. Signature chip 2008. Beautiful!! Happy Holidays ALL!!!
