  1. I’m saying CAC just to oppose RAR! Lol, no, Jk, because of the S and feathering on the white plus in the last pic it looks like a seam with road and messed up tunnel!
  2. Imo just a swirl. CAC most common is the white base. Should be opaque to translucent white with red to electric red transparent stripes. Plus AAs were often hand gathered with the “9” look up the archives for lots of pics. jmh
  3. Well ya got that one right! Keep learning, it’s a life long process! jmh
  4. Carowills look awfully white for red ravens, amen to wvrons, right as usual! jmh

    Slag?

Akro, no seam, no road and tunnel, no S, no filigree on stripes, no chevrons. I’d go MFC before I’d go CAC, the base color is only thing leaning CAC. And the white is heavy for a CAC. But hey, it’s a slag. It could still be anything! jmh
  6. No X10, needs a tan base with transparent red with brown trailing lines around it and maybe a little white.
  7. How is this different from a golden dragon? Block just sold one for $275! Is the difference orange stripes as opposed to red? thanks jon
  8. Not too long ago someone posted an article with pics of the difference between the Red Raven and the one similar from Heaton. It was pointed out that the red in the RWs was a more vibrant red than the Heatons and went all around the marble while on Heatons one side would be very bare of the red stripes but had a very small dot of red. The pictures side by side showed all this. Anyway, check the archives and I’ll see if I’ve got it stashed away. I’ve run across several blue and green ravens but red seems harder to find! jon
  9. All the 6-7- or 8 finger Vitro’s I have are cat eyes, transparent! Seeing some pics on google of opaque mibs with 6-8 fingers. Did Vitro make both? thanks jon
  10. My brother in law found this one in an antique store down in Austin. Great shape, kinda CAC looking but not, Jabo? Other modern? What do you all think? thanks Jon
  11. I’ll go with Akro on this one but disagree on the other previous red one. I think it’s a CAC because of the seam and the wavy edges on the white in second pic. Plus the deep red. jon
  12. Yeah I don’t get it either, there have been and are several of these anytime you check eBay. Plus this one has several hits and sparkles and an annealing fracture which should drop it down to around a “good” rating, these big ones have been going for $20-$40 and are mostly dug. I bought 20 of them years ago for $5 each! The 5/8”-3/4” ones go for more and are usually in better shape and often more complex in design. It just seems these Superman mibs are popular all of a sudden. Ditto with MCR Pelts, now going for $15-$36! Even more if a so called Miller swirl! Go figure! Jon
  13. Those “marks” at five o’clock don’t look like facets but imperfections in the material. You need to examine it with a loupe to see the facets if there are any. They proceeded glass by about 100 years, beginning around mid 1700s and marbles mid 1800s. Effectively stopped around WWI about the time glass was picking up. This one is a very nice banded agate with more than usual banding. Don’t know about the hole but have seen them drilled to hang from a necklace.
  14. Same guy has this one for sale. Thinks it’s a CAC but looks Pelt to me. What do you think? thanks Jon
  15. Same guy has this one for sale. He thinks CAC, I’m thinking Pelt. What’s your thought?
  16. A fellow offered up this as a CAC, but looks more Pelt with the blow hole and seams….. or Jabo with those loopie stripes. What do you think?
  17. Colors seem weird but the tracers look almost Ravenswood.
  18. Sheshh, if the Popeye is mint it’s worth the $ 15 or more!! Nice buy!! Jon
  19. I’ve never seen one on eBay or any other online sales site. So get what you can! Lol! Better yet, hold onto it as you will probably never see another except in someone’s collection! jon
  20. I believe there was a color difference in the early and late MKs too?? jon
  21. Google marblealan site for pics of most of the NLRs you are asking about. Also check Bob Blocks auction site past and present. He usually has several Pelts, CACs and AKROs up for bidding with several pics of each. Good luck jon
  22. Well it’s not a Pelt or MFC and besides the weak 9, it shows no CAC idiosyncrasies soooooo I’d say Akro. But the red slags have been a fav of mine, esp the 3/4” CACs!!
  23. Atmospheres … the smaller ones are just under an inch and bigger almost two in.
