Ooh, I think this could be a really early Japanese made imperial. I've seen (and have a couple) Japanese marbles that look like knockoff pelts or vitros.
-
Maybe a German handmade??? I've seen some real weird ones like this.
-
It looks like it to me (because of the seam in the white bands). However, I'm still pretty new at telling different slags apart by maker.
-
Could it be a pretty early vacor??? (Either way its a really cool marble).

🤣 Don't worry guys! I absolutely love uncovering/learning new info. Man! Those Petersons look gorgeous! I can really see the resemblance to the one I bought, except that mine is kinda wonky 🙂. So was it actually Marlow Peterson who created these guys?
-
Ooh! Those sound really cool! So where and roughly when did he make these guys?
-
Interesting. 🙂 Even if its kinda lopsided/crudely made I still really like the character and the use of color. At the very least its a neat, out of the ordinary find.

Oh my gosh! That sounds like a pretty impressive find! 😮😮😮 -
Oh cool! Yeah, as a matter of fact the glass does feel oily (even though the marble is perfectly clean).
-
I agree though, whatever it is, it looks like a really beautiful piece. 🙂
-
Is it some kind of Chinese or Bulgarian marble?
-
I looked all over the marble (very closely) for an artist's signature, but there isn't one. Also, the circular shape at the top of the marble appears to be some kind of smoothed out pontil since it is slightly uneven/raised from the rest of the marble. I couldn't quite get it in the pictures, but the base glass is totally clear (colorless), only the swirls are blue and white.
-
It's about 1 and 3/8 inches (at the widest part).
-
Ooh, yeah this guy looks like it might be a Japanese pinch/crease pontil marble.

Hey everybody! Just thought I'd post this real stumper I found earlier today at a nearby antique shop. It appears to be some kind of contemporary hand made marble, but other than that, I really don't know. Any id help is much appreciated! 🙂

Whoa! Those look awesome! (I definitely agree that the kaleidoscope effect is very cool!) I've also heard some of them can be pretty rare/valuable. I don't think I've come across any that complex. I did find one a while back though. Its a pair of koi fish next to a seaweed plant. 🙂 -
Awesome collection!!! 🙂 I definitely agree with Ric in that this could be a very nice identification resource. Even though I'm still totally a newbie, I feel like looking at a ton of different examples of any one type of marble really helps you get better at id's. Case in point, I never knew before this post, that Navarres could come in so many colors! 🤯🤯🤯
