    As for the decorations, my best guess is that it may have been a painted clay marble at some point and wear has produced what appears to be a more elaborate form of decoration. It's also possible some kid decorated it themself at some point. It certainly wouldn't be the first time I have seen homemade decorations on a marble. Whatever it is, I am guessing it doesn't look anything like it did the day it was made.
