Steph
Anyone have an Alley coral? The only pic I recall offhand of a possible Alley coral is hidden in a mesh bag. Not much to go on for any sort of generalization. Would love to see another. Thanks.
david Chamberlain
There has to be one in the back pages here. Is there any sort of a program associated with this Board that allows you to selectively go to specific subjects or am I dreaming? David
david Chamberlain
Possibly identified at joemarbles.com.....David
Steph
Do you see one at Joemarbles? If it's there I'm being blind. (which has happened before)
Ric
Here you go, Steph. Probably not the best example - but handy.
Steph
Thanks Ric. What do you mean by not the "best" example? Do you mean not typical? or?
Ric
Sorry Steph, I should have said . . . probably not the best pic - it's pretty typical for Alley.
Steph
Gotcha!
david Chamberlain
Usually the green is darker and they appear in opaque as well as translucent. And by possibly at joemarbles.com I meant "possibly" as I hadn't even checked myself. David

Al Oregon
Here's some pictures that Roger posted back in Sep 2007 - does this qualify? Was ID'd as such back then.
Ric
Nice Alley, Al. I'm not sure I'd call it a coral though. I refer to those as Bacon Strip Swirls. lol.
marblemover
green eggs and bacon sorry, i couldn't resist
david Chamberlain
Al's picture Post is not a coral and Mike's three are all Alley Agate Co. It has been fairly well established that the CAC corals were Alley. And I have never seen a Ravenswood coral look-a-like. David
manddrakes
Here's an interesting coral type I'm selling in a lot. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160403431040&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT
Steph
Thanks to everyone for the pix. :-) Mike's three are all Alley Agate Co. It has been fairly well established that the CAC corals were Alley. David, are you ruling out Champion as a source of Corals? I had been under the impression that Champ was currently considered the main source of Corals. I thought that Alley might have made at least some variation on corals, but usually I see them attributed to Champ.
m!b$
I started a thread on Coral Swirls not long ago. Can someone find it? Never did get any real conclusive answer as to what mine were.
Steph
It's in the archives. It reinforces the impression that most corals are considered Champs. fwiw, it also has the bag which I thought was/might be Alleys. http://marbleconnection.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=12426
Al Oregon
David, the picture of the 3 that Mike showed was one I saved off eBay several years ago when Les Jones was selling them. Those were the ID's he provided. The one on the left was subsequently confirmed by some CAC people as CAC but...?
feelnmarbleous
Not seeing Ravenswood as a possibility in any of the photo's here.
Ric
Al, As I understand it, Champion made the largest numbers of Corals. I would attribute the middle and right marbles in Les's pic to Champ. I do not know of any corals currently attributed to Ravenswood. And I agree that many CAC people attribute the left marble to that company. As for Alley, I am under the impression that they did not produce corals on a transparent base, but I could certainly be wrong about that.
Al Oregon
Ric & Kevin - makes sense. I wanted to put Les's name out there so people would know the original ID person since he was very knowledgable. But I agree with your Champion ID's on the right two. I will have to change the title on the picture when I use it in the future.
david Chamberlain
Yes, I got Alley and Champion mixed up there. Senor moment! David
