moremarbles4me
Any thoughts on who made these? They are unsigned, 2 1/4" and came from a group of contemps many of which were dated late 80s to the early 90s Thanks in advance Charles
Glass Chef
OK let's see......the only Contemporary Marble Artist that I know of that made a sulphide using the same Polar Bear figure is Kris Parke, out of Cortland, Ohio. Now, Kris learned how to make sulphide marbles from the great Andy Davis, also from Ohio (West Farmington). Since Kris began making marbles approximately 2004 or 2005, my guess is that these sulphides are not his, but could very well be Andy's. If I judged strictly by the green & white background's on these pieces, I might suggest glass artist Joe Rice, a nephew of Joe St. Clair. All speculation of course, but good guesses I'm sure. Glass Chef
Correction......could be Tom St. Clair as opposed to Joe Rice.
Alan
Correction......could be Tom St. Clair as opposed to Joe Rice. I was thinking St. Clair.
moremarbles4me
There were a few signed St Clairs in the group. Charles
Alan
There were a few signed St Clairs in the group. Charles I don't own any St. Clair work - but the style struck me as reminiscent of his work. So mine is a guess - not authoritative.
FISHSLAYERMARRBLEGRIFF
I am 100% sure that I dont know!! The figures remind me of Davis.
moremarbles4me
I've looked for a website to help me ID these two, does anyone know of such a place? Charles
Steph
Glass Addiction is where I'd go. http://www.glasswizards.yuku.com Not saying you don't already have good advice! lol. Some of the input here is from people who post there! So my comment was just for contemps in general.
moremarbles4me
I sent the pictures to a guy that has 40 or so of Joe St Clairs marbles and he says noway so we're narrowing it down. LOL Thanks folks Charles
Glass Chef
These two could possibly be Tom St. Clair Sulphides as opposed to Joe St. Clair. Take a look here: Tom St. Clair Marbles
Glass Chef
One other great glass artist comes to mind. John Gentile is no longer with us, but the background designs on these two sulphides remind me of John's work to some extent. Maybe you can send the pictures to the following eBay seller, and maybe they can help you further. Good luck. John Gentile

moremarbles4me
I sent pictures to Bob Block and this was his answer These sulphide figures were made and painted at Gibson Glass (I'm pretty sure). They were used by Gibson Glass, St. Clair, and House of Glass in Indiana. Later by Jim Davis. St. Clair usually signed his marbles, and the green flash was usually not used by him. So, I would say Gibson, mainly because I don't recall seeing that green flash in any HOG marbles or weights. Bob
Steph
Which St. Clair was Bob talking about?
moremarbles4me
I'm guessing Joe St Clair, he signed his marbles. Charles
