VTAndrea
Years ago Les Jones told me this 1" marble is a Vitro, but it doesn't look like any others I've got. Thinking about some recent past posts has made me wonder if it could be a "wedding cake Vitro". The green glass almost looks translucent but isn't. Thanks for any opinions. (I realize this belongs in the ID section but am hoping to get some input before it gets moved.)
VTAndrea
I forgot to crop the photos. Will post 4 shots if possible. I've lost my editing chops.
99marbles131
I think it looks more like a master.
VTAndrea
Les Jones saw more marbles in his lifetime than most of us put together, so I'll go along with his ID until persuaded otherwise.
semdot
I would go with Master also. Certainly not a wedding cake.
Kingfisher
It doesn't strike me as being a Vitro and I have hundreds of them... I won't make a guess, so to me it's a question... I would like to find out what it is though... It's a beauty...
Ric
Hi Andrea, FWIW, I have this 1" with my Akros. I might be able to see Master. Some might even consider Alox. But I don't really see Vitro here.
VTAndrea
Wow, that looks exactly like mine. On what are you basing your Akro call? I just haven't seen many Masters this size, I guess.
Ric
I'm sure these marbles are related. I don't think they're too common either. It's the base glass, striping colors and patch style that point to Akro for me . . . I think "the bird's the word" (unless it's Master). lol
VTAndrea
Ric, it's funny you mention the bird because when I hold the marble in a certain position, it looks a lot like the Akro Hero profile. OK, Les must have been wrong. (Maybe.)
lstmmrbls
Les did know more than most for sure, but a lot of his knowledge was gained from assumptions and here say. That was all we had in the early days. And we still have tons of information that has never been backed up by facts. More and more is coming to light every year thank goodness. I just wish someone would come up with some CAC paperwork.
