Mattshaw1953
Hi I've moved these images from another thread, it fizzled out, I didn't get an ID. The smaller is 0.47", the other is 0.50", my books say half inch and under are rare? The larger has a blur at one side of the patch, patch Hero? Thanks. Steph
Agreed. I wouldn't call them Heroes either. I think the style name could be Royal.
Mattshaw1953
I'm a bit confused:- These are the same type of marble surely?😳
Al Oregon
Where is that picture from? That will help determine if it is a good source for info. Mistakes were made in some books.
Steph
The book could be erroneous. Or I suppose the light could have made the mossy base look orange. I guess it's possible. No mossy base on yours. Here are some Moss Agates.
Mattshaw1953
The Yellow is much different, I can see that, the book is wrong then?, you must have better schools in the US, erroneous, seriously I've never heard that term before, ha ha, thanks, back to square 1. What chance have you got if the books are wrong?
Steph
They're generally right a lot more often then they are wrong. But it's typically difficult to learn directly from any textbook, no? Even the best math book in the world usually needs a math teacher to help students figure out what the math book is showing them. I suppose other fields are similar. Books help but students might see things other than how they were intended and teachers (other collectors) help sort it all out. So which book was that one? dbarney2012
Your marble has striations in them. They ALMOST remind me of master. Moss agate BASE glass looks the same all the way through. IMO Dennis PS be carefull of some books And NEVER USE EBAY TO IDENTIFY.
