stephenb
This may be one of those marbles that is not going to be positively identifiable . She's 5/8 with a translucent aqua blue that reminds me of blue Jello gelatin. It has one thick , creamy white swirl that looks like iceing . I have heard that Cairo Novelty made marbles similar to this where the fieldmark being a 9-like swirl that covers 1/4 of the marble, and the rest of the marble is relatively void of swirling. There are no seams but it seems to have sort of a pinch pontil on it that I should upload a picture of. Any thoughts on this girl ?
stephenb
Here’s a view of the pinch or crease , about 10’ o clock on the marble.

stephenb
Yep I have a couple of Alox translucent swirls that are very similar . There’s probably a handful of those WV companies that could easily pump out this marble ... I might be splitting hairs here .
DINDO
Splitting hairs helps fine tune the process. My bag of similar brown ones. I actually think they might not all be Alox. There is differences in the lot. Cairo did enter my thinking on some of them. I was going to revisit them at some point.
stephenb
I would love to see photos of those brown ones , just for prospective and comparison. 👍

Steph
Transparent swirls are really hard to pin down to any maker. The icing-like white might point to foreign though.
stephenb
Ahhhh ! Thanks Steph for the reality check 🙂. It’s always a learning experience here for me . What a cool looking marble though, and it’s going to have a special place in the display case. I will file it under “Blue Alien”
DINDO
"Its too blue to be true"🎶Its been over 2 years since ive bagged them. I can now see some dont belong. Will figure that out at some point
stephenb
Wow that is some thick icing on some of them !
DINDO
Now im thinking of icing on a cake. .. i feel 75% confident some are Alox or Cairo... they are a tough category.
Steph
Peach? I've seen at least a couple of makers on peach swirls. The maker whose name I remember is CAC, but I am not making that guess for yours.
DINDO
Hi. Photo looked better on my phone. The ones im thinking do have the thick icing but also all way through (pic) Alox,Cairo. I could easily be swayed to Japanese. It does appear upon closer inspection there may up to 4 varities in this lot (top pic) My apologies stephenb wasnt trying to overtake your thread. And of course Steph's ever graciousness of keeping our marbles in line.
stephenb
No worries Dindo , glad to be learning here on this thread . Do yours have that crease pontil like I showed in my last photo ? This could point to a possible Japan import. according to the Americans Machine Made Marbles book. I’m hoping they don’t ! That looks like West Virginia icing to me 🙂
DINDO
I looked at several. No marks. Smooth glass. That is a good book.was about to reach for it actually.
Steph
Stephen, I think your crease is a cold roll. What kind of marbles did that one come with? This Vacor is my only specific guess. If it's not this, I'll sit back and wait for someone else's ideas.https://www.billes-en-tete.com/detail.php?id=
godown
Not seeing a pontil here Gentlemen if there is one and there is a chance there is it will be visible here shown in red
godown
One of mine which i think may be related to your`s could be wrong but see a few similarity`s
Nantucketdink
There are JABOs similar to the original marble made in like 1999 or 2000. With that pattern and color it is likely it is one of those JABOs.
stephenb
Godown yes yours looks alot like mine . No markings on the “eye” where you pointed out in red . Just that cold crease line like Steph described towards the back of the marble . I’ll look through Jabo examples.
stephenb
Ive been looking through those Stngrays, it really matches up . There were some random Vacor marbles in the lot that I got this marble from at the flea market , so yep I've convinced myself that it's an odd Vacor Stingray . Steph has uncovered the mystery , thankyou Steph !

DINDO
Some of those fandangled Vacors can be tricky. I have a red rooster. I know what it is. But everytime i look at... i wonder. It was a good time anyway the marble rolls.
