Woodse
Looking through some clearies and iridescents. Are carnival glass marbles a real thing? Saw some described this way. Just wondering.
Steph
Some modern marbles come with an iridescent coating. Some Vacors have it. Some Jabos did. And I imagine some from Asia have it. I'm not aware of vintage marbles having the iridescent finish.
Royal3
Akro made a few with an odd mercury-like coating, giving the marble an oily, iridescent-like finish. I picked up a small blue oxblood with it at a show nearly 20 years ago and Roger Hardy confirmed that it was a genuine production item. It’s a bear to photograph and I’m up to my knees in alligators right now - I’m recovering from hip replacement surgery and a dead car too - but I’ll try to get a photo posted soon. Nantucketdink
I hope it is clear I was saying some Champions have it. I believe some Mid Atlantics have it too. Did MK do it at all(I don't know)?
I'llhavethat1
The term "carnival glass" likely was carried over from other glass collectors (I'm thinking fruit bowls and punch sets).
