Is this a messed up corkscrew?

It's an oddball, but it doesn't strike me as a messed-up corkscrew - it sort of looks like a transitional but . . .?

My first thought was transitional.

Then I saw Ric's doubt and so my second thought was .........  dramatic pause .........   still transitional.

Ric, are you thinking older than transitional?  Purely handmade?

Tommy, a close-up of the cutline could be helpful.  The same shot even, just all by itself, not in the collage.

My strongest thought is transitional, Steph, I would just like to see both poles of the marble before I go all in.

Better pics might show a ground/faceted pontil, which is what I'm interpreting from the bottom right pic.  Probably an early German hand gathered.

Beat me to it, my opinion is the same.  Although the color/pattern is usually more associated with the other transitionals I think this predates those, and German in origin.
