Clive Whittall
Hello and thank for accepting me. New member here who knows absolutely nothing about marble collecting, so please bear with me. We are hobby sellers of various antiques and collectables and we had accumulated quite a stash of marbles from various auctions. I thought it might be a nice idea to turn some solitaire boards from bits of old walnut, so that they could be used and decorative - results attached. But before offering these for sale, I'm wondering whether any of these marbles might be of any collectable interest? I have no indication of age, but it appears that at least a few of them are hand made. I have browsed a few collector's websites but it is an absolute minefield for a beginner! Does anyone have any thoughts on whether they might be of interest and could you please suggest where I might go for any further research? Thanks in anticipation, Clive. Chad G.
"Welcome to Marble Connection Clive" A great place to learn and grow, much knowledge & knowledgeable people here more than willing to help ya out on your marble journey. Well as far as you marbles I don't see any handmades unless their really hiding. The first board looks to contain all "Vacor" ( Mega) marbles, made in Mexico. The second set looks to be almost all Asian Imperials except I see at least one, what I believe from just the one view to be a "Peltier Rainbo", maybe one or two others of different make in the mix there. & the third all cats eyes except the center marble, looks like it may be either a gaming marble ?? Handmades all have pontil marks where they were cut from a cane. "Verry Nice Boards" by the way Clive some really nice work !! I have several that I display marbles on myself, a great way to show your collection. All 3 different styles too "Excellent" I took a really good look again & all machine made from what I can see, anxious to see pix of your other marbles & projects !! Again "Welcome" Chad G. Possible Peltier Rainbo, 1st board lower left hand corner Possible game marble or another Vacor in the center of 3rd board ??

Berryb
1st pic, central square of 9, top right; is that a Pelt bruiser? Thanks Bruce
wvrons
Nice boards, they are worth more than the marbles. People may want the boards but collectors with a years experience would pass on the marbles. As you have seen marbles can take years to learn. There are to many varieties to learn in a year. Some are worth a penny each and some are worth $100.00 or $500.00 each, and every where in between. It only takes one good one out of 1000 to make it worthwhile. Clive Whittall
Very helpful comments, and thank you for the kind words about the boards. I'm happy to concentrate on using the marbles and boards for their decorative or play effect. They'll certainly look attractive on our stall! Regards, Clive.
