PittsburghMarbles
I’ve only been collecting marbles for about 3 years and have been collecting antique glass for about 15 years. I am now completely out of room in my antique room for marbles, which is the only room the pets aren’t allowed in. We have a cat and 2 dogs so displaying marbles on shelves is pretty precarious. I’ve already had to pack up most of my glass collection as I’d like to display all of my good marbles but that is now getting impossible. How do you guys display your marbles? I could get glass shelving with glass doors but there are pretty dang expensive. How do you guys display stuff in pet proof ways? Our cat got in my room the other day and batted all of my Heatons off the shelves and then jumped up on my pelt shelf and did the same. Somehow nothing got damaged… 2 1
William
Can you go with plexiglass on the front of those cases? Either one big sheet on each one or maybe 2 pieces? Attach some hinges and then whatever you prefer on the left hand side to hold it in place (magnetic catch, a hook and eye?) Just some thoughts. You could get lucky on your local websites and find some curio cabinets for cheap. Something close enough that you could pick up or have delivered. Actually got my 2 displays at an antique store for 20 bucks apiece! A seller was closing up and wanted to move her property quickly. Right place at the right time. Could get lucky! I'llhavethat1
Nice displays. I've resorted to put my displays on the wall, up high enough so the pets and little kids can't get to them. Still the risk of bouncing balls and Nerf gun wars though...

That's what I'm beginning to do so I don't run out of space so quickly. Going with printers drawers too hang up. I've got a contact in Iowa that has a bunch that he's saving for me 👍
schmoozer
Wall display for your best mibs. Found one for golf balls at a thrift store for $20. Good for larger mibs. the Mirrored display is cool but a pain to clean. the oak cabinet is a Hamilton, found at a antique store for the price of a good pelt Superman. Holds roughly 150 5/8” per tray, so 1,200 total. Plus a good-sized drawer at the base for misc. these have plexiglass sliding covershttps://www.ebay.com/itm/120410910529?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8weAQEnpSrC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=bXaTUpW8TnK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
schmoozer
Just bought 2 more wall displays, realized I have too many good mibs in cases in the closet. https://www.ebay.com/itm/120410910529?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8weAQEnpSrC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=bXaTUpW8TnK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
akronmarbles
You are brave to display like that. Between kids and pets, I have always kept my marbles and hand blown glass bottles boxed up. Would love to have a room with built in glass door display cabinets. schmoozer
No kids, and only 5 small dogs. The displays keep the dust down, plus hepa filters in the furnace. 1
wvrons
Here are a few. I try to get everything behind or under glass. Lots of wall and floor cabinets with glass or plexiglass doors. Most have locks and lights in each cabinet. 1 2 2

schmoozer
Wvrons, excellent displays! The angled mirror for the top shelf is a great idea! Trying to keep things at eye level restricts what you can display. I have some wall racks that need to get lowered 6” or so for optimum viewing. Step stools are dangerous for old folk.. schmoozer
Got them installed, although some unexpected issues. I have to tilt the new displays a little to be able to open the plexiglass. The high density spacing limits my ability to grab a marble for closer inspection, fat fingers syndrome. the bigger issue is deciding how to arrange mibs in all the displays. I hope to pull most of my better mibs out of cases and closets…
