chicagocyclist
Not seeing a Red Raven and I don't know what a Red Rose is.
wvrons
It is a Red Raven. The red swirl is just a little more narrow than most. Plus the red is going to orange which some do. There were good numbers of what looked like Red Ravens dug at the Heaton Agate site. They got the name Red Rose. I have trouble separating the two. I have had several of them placed side by side with Red Ravens many times. I know for sure that there were other Ravenswood marbles at the Heaton site. I have dug a few Red Ravens or Red Rose at Heaton for over twenty years. But on the recent digs a couple years ago. One day I also dug a nice Blue Raven. The next day I dug a nice Green Raven. I also dug a old white slag and a blue slag. I also think there were some other Ravenswood marbles found at Heaton other than the Red, Blue or Green Ravens. There were at least six or seven different marble companies marbles dug at Heaton. Including Master, Vitro , Marble King, Akro etc. Red Ravens from Ravenswood- pictures 25+ years old. Blue Blue Ravens Green Ravens Marbles below dug at Heaton Agate site. Akro cork on the right 1
boris64
Well I knew the base glass was a unique color. That being said I would have never had any idea what it was if i hadn’t t watched yours and Steve’s video on Ravenswood. Good job! The info stuck. Started finding some. I know forr a fact I have a couple of those orange/white and blue marbles in your picture.
wvrons
The only orange/white and blue marble in my pictures is the 7/8 inch Akro cork.
jhomer2172
Not too long ago someone posted an article with pics of the difference between the Red Raven and the one similar from Heaton. It was pointed out that the red in the RWs was a more vibrant red than the Heatons and went all around the marble while on Heatons one side would be very bare of the red stripes but had a very small dot of red. The pictures side by side showed all this. Anyway, check the archives and I’ll see if I’ve got it stashed away. I’ve run across several blue and green ravens but red seems harder to find! jon
chicagocyclist
Yeow. Those dug ones sure widen the field! (edited by author)

We get a marble that's not quite meeting all the specifications of a particular named marble and it's not allowed to be called that. Then we have marbles that are clearly lesser than the name marvel and yet they get that name. It's very hard to sort that out. This is true, they are random swirls and there is lot's of variation around the mean. Some are excellent examples of the type, some are average and others are poor examples. And that is usually reflected in their collectible and monetary value.

(edited) I can clearly see those as Ravens and the blue and the green, and then it goes increasingly hazy. Thanks!!

wvrons
Why do you think my hair is gone ? I still have hazy days, LOL. You have the true thing or purebred. You have the brothers or sisters. You have first cousins. You have 5-6-7 times removed cousins. Depends on how far you want to do the stretch. Like Ric said the value or price should reflect where the marble is in the family tree. chicagocyclist
I am liking these comments: "Why do you think my hair is gone ? I still have hazy days," Are they a local thing? I am guess at their meaning but I wanna be sure so I can use it! : "Why do you think my hair is gone?" means you have lost all ability at understanding what I am saying??
