Hi all,

I've just retired and decided to go through some marbles that I have had for 50 yrs plus before I loose mine .

Most are from my Great Great granddad who came to Canada in 1873 on the sailing ship SS Carl . ( from Prussia or West Germany area ) .

I purchased at his son Albert's Estate sale in 1980's .

My Great Aunt had them and always told me those were your GGGranddad's marbles .

My Granddad also collected some and was into Vacors and others he'd pick up in Texas or Florida at Flea markets back from the 50's.

So I bought his at his auction sale too.

I have separated them and now learning what is there .

Going to make shadow boxes for my kids with a few of the marbles with documents and photos of who owned them and ship they took from the glassworks near Lauscha to Granau Prussia ( family hometown ) 4 weeks sailing to N.Y. then to Montreal and then to Balls Falls Ontario .

Glad to have time to get into marbles as didn't know there were so many different types.
