MFC/CAC and red slags

Recommended Posts

A lovely marble.

23/32".

I'm not attached to a maker identity.  It was advertised as Christensen. But I have seen/heard that they didn't make red slags.  I knew this when I bought the mib.

That concern aside, I love this specimen.  I can't pick one from another, but it's one of my favorites.

Just curious what we know, and what is merely legend.

Thanks for looking!

It really is a nice piece. I have to wait until summer before I can put it, along with all my marbles, in the marble run set-up that the nieces and nephews build every time we get together...

OP is Akro IMO, MFC didn't make red slags, Christensen did.

So all HG red slags are akro?

I’ve got 1 and 2 seam CAC slags.

Yes CAC made both 1 & 2 seam red slags, I've had both also. MFC was the only one that didn't make any red slags as far as I know ??  The HG question is a good one !! Wish I was there so I could give a more definitive answer Brad ??

Never forget that Pelt made slags as well. They are noted for the "Feathered" ones but many of them can be confused with the other makers.
There has been controversy surrounding the earlier ones that Pelt Made. Are they CAC or Pelt—so on and so on.
The Akro hand gathered also had some controversy surrounding them. In the early Days Akro did sell some MFC made slag marbles.
There is always the possibility that the tail that you show was a result of a machine made marble and its workings. Akro made millions of slag’s and anything may have happened during the manufacture of these.
It is a very cool marble—slag’s can be very hard to pin down sometimes.
Marble—On!!
