I don't get the idea of "spin" on a machine-made marble, unless we're talking about corkscrews. Honestly, I wouldn't know if the OP spun clockwise, counterclockwise, or not at all. How can you tell? Could you show me a comparison of right vs left spin on a machine-made? I am totally lost with this idea.

I believe that it has to do with the cutting device used. Some older machines were single cutoff where the knives cut and came back to make another cut. 
Some machines cut one way and then back again to make another cut and this would explain a reverse in the pattern. It would have to be 50-50 as a result.
This is my best Ric but I can imagine it going--- (in my head at least.)
Perhaps Peltier changed the direction of their cutoff knives at some point?

@akroorka I appreciate the response, Art. It was an admirable attempt to explain.

Unfortunately, I still don't get it. Can you contrast the traits that indicate clockwise vs counterclockwise spin on these marbles? I could probably figure it out from there.
