Is this a marble?

3/4" and spherical - I'd call it a marble. The photo is a little blurry so it's hard for me to tell whether it's stoneware or an actual stone. My guess is the former.

I wonder why it has that band in the middle? What was the purpose? 🤔

Likely just decoration but it might have been used in a ball valve or something I suppose. The photo is not that sharp so it's kind of hard to tell what's going on.

Does it taste like candy?  Might be a gobstopper or sucker or something.

@Ric, Here are better pics of that stone “marble”

It looks totally different in these pics, and it sure wouldn't be useful as a marble. I have a feeling this has a more industrial application, maybe a mill ball,  and the shape is meant to facilitate it function, whatever it might be. I could imagine it as part of a ball valve of some sort too.

It's definitely not a marble.
