emuslyfox
Pretty sure this is an alley, it just seems almost too shiny. Possibly polished? Size is .64
cheese
Alley sounds right. Not polished, just nice and shiny IMO.
Alta
Sorry to hijack this thread, but Cheese (and anybody that wants to chime in), what is the easiest ways to differentiate an Alley like this from the Vacor old fashioned? When I saw this post my mind went to Vacor, and would just like to know if there are tried and tested ways of telling them apart. Thanks! 1
Fire1981
You didn’t hijack this thread. A hijack occurs if someone posts a completely different marble that’s not related to the Op. That’s just an example. I was going to ask a similar question. I was thinking CAC because of the heavy/wide ribbon and thick Flame Tip. What Alley trait did I miss🔥 RAR 1

Any opportunity for us to learn and become better at identifying, that’s why I’m here. I have white/red alleys and this one stands out. I actually started looking at Vacors before I posted because it seemed so shiny I figured it might be more modern. Always happy to have you guys on my thread, helping me sort them out 🙏👍

On previous posts, especially my CAC white/orange striped opaque, the white was pointed out as being especially white and a known sign of CAC. This white seems very dense, and it pops. Many of my white+ Alleys have a far less intense white as the base. That said, if @cheese says it’s Alley, just shiny, I trust that. But that’s what I noticed that made me ask

cheese
CAC is possible. The size and pattern lead me to early Alley, Sistersville. Pattern could fit with CAC maybe but then the size plus the clear streaks and not quite CAC white lead me more to Alley. Someone else might have reasons they think otherwise. You just take in everything you can and weigh it against what you know and go with the maker with the most weight behind it. Sometimes it's still wrong but it's all anyone can do. 2
