SequoiaBET
I just saw your post from last week in the my favorite marbles forum, Chad, and thought to myself- I think I have one of those. Do I? I feel the colors are the same, but yours definitely has a nicer pattern. Mine is 5/8 (.62) inch with no UV.
akroorka
This is a very nice swirl--I would call it an "Alley Agate" made marble. I appreciate all opinions and hope to see some more. Marble--On!!
VaMarbles
Unfortunately IMHO not a Carnival. Here’s one of ours but I think Chad didn’t think it was one? But I’m fairly sure it is Some think the carnival is the holy grail of Alleys? Not sure about that but I’ve only seen 2 1
Fire1981
The OP's yellow and red swirls are burnt. It's a could have been a Flaming Dragon but it's not. It's not hard to imagine this marble with bright red and yellow swirls.🔥 RAR 1

SequoiaBET
So please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly make one a carnival? To my untrained eye, the 2 marbles that Schmoozer and VaMarble posted pictures of look very different, as does the one Chad posted that originally caught my eye and I thought looked similar t mine. All of your help in my continuing education is much appreciated!

I’ve seen variations but all of them must have black. I’ve only seen two in the wild in 2 years of collection hard. 2
Fire1981
VaMarbles I think your’s is from the pits. The anneal fractures kind of points that in that direction. I also think the orange on your’s got to hot and burned. Do take this the wrong way. It’s a great marble🔥 RAR 1
SequoiaBET
Thanks VAMarbles. The pics in the book do help. So it seems the base glass can be blue or green. For sure, mine has no black.
cheese Posted yesterday at 05:40 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:40 AM The base glass is only green. Then you have the black and orange/red/yellow. I believe Alley tried to reproduce them at St. Marys, maybe more than once, and came close but they were different. Here is a carnival for reference, from the West Virginia Swirls Identification book. 1
