    Snowflake Obsidian.
  2. I think they're all Champion.

    Master ?

It looks more Akro to me, Joep.

    Tiger Eye and ?

The first looks like a Type I Tiger Eye with some blue covering what should have been a white polar patch. The second looks like a dug Akro to me.

    Blade of Grass

It looks more like an Alley than any other American manufacturer to me.
  6. Do you suppose that the Popeye patches were "errors" or just a patch styles purposefully made using the same color combos as the Popeyes? Because, as you said, you can find patches in the colors of most of the spirals, and based on their numbers, I wouldn't assume they were errors.

    3/4 Vitro

I think it's an Akro - cool base glass.
  8. Some may have become available from early diggers, I think a small number of people with hand equipment were digging there as early as the 1960s.

    My Garden

I love fresh asparagus! When I was young I used to collect it in the wild for my Mom who canned it. A full paper grocery sack was a typical harvest.

I'd be browsing on the asparagus, for sure. lol

It really does look like you have some great plantings. We tried to start some things but the deer around here are plentiful and ravenous - gave up after a few years and a bunch of money trying.
  12. Maybe one of those "bird-like" Akro patches gone weird?
  13. Again, pretty sure it's Akro but I'm not sure it's a Popeye Patch, it'd be another rare one.
  14. I do think it's an Akro patch but I'm not sure it's a Popeye Patch. It'd be a rare color combo, for sure.

    5/8 Vitro ?

    Might be Master.

@Melissa It looks like you have a great garden with a really nice variety of plants. Was all or some of it established when you came upon it or is it all your doing?
  17. I think "Popeye" is a collector's name. I don't think the company ever sold them as such. I believe they got their name because of the Popeye the Sailorman packaging Akro put them in, although I am not sure if they were found in other packaging or not.
  18. The idea of relative rarity interests me. How many different color combos have been found in Popeye Patches? @Alan Do you recall what the relative distribution of colors was in the dug horde you mention?

    .62 ID help

Photos appear a little dark but I'm getting a JABO vibe from this one.
  20. A very nice CAC slag, I think. Some might call it a striped transparent.
  21. I would say it qualifies but not a great example.
  22. Good point - seems pretty small for a cullet marble though, at least to me.
  23. That is called a Vitro Jewel Tray. They came with a variety of different types of Vitro marbles.
