  1. Cool marble, Art. This one has pretty similar colors but the base is true black . . .
  2. Peltier. Sometimes the ribbons get spread out pretty evenly around the marble.
  3. That's really great, Art. It's a very good approximation for a HS student! And if you ever get a chance to get to the museum in Amsterdam you need to. I was lucky enough to visit around 2010 and I am pretty sure my heart stopped a few times while walking through. I have been to quite a few art museums in my day but there a bunch of pieces there that literally took my breath away. It's well worth the effort getting over there.
  4. it appears that they might be dug - several look pretty egg-shaped.
  5. Nice work, Chuck! Where are you getting your foam?
  6. Some of the info they cite is wrong too - particularly the date and location of the first American marble company.
  7. Good stuff, Sherry. You know, we have a new subforum for these types of documents now, thanks to Jason and Steph!
  8. It's a white base. And I am not sure where you got the info you showed but I am pretty certain Ravenswood did not make any 1" marbles.
  9. More likely Akro, I think.
  10. Not sure about a slag, it might be a transparent swirl of some sort. Your first pic has the best focus and comparing it to the others, it seems you may want to get just a little farther away from the marble to get a good pic.
  11. Good eye, Art. There are a few two colors in there.
  12. I didn't think marbles dated - they're inanimate objects. 😁 But a good place to start looking for manufacturing dates is in the "Timeline" threads in Steph's Study Hall. 🙂

    German?

Just a tip - to get the most accurate measurement you need to move the marble away from the ruler part of the caliper. This reading is probably about 2 mm shy of reality.
  14. There is so much good stuff in the archives. A lot of it deserves a bump once in a while, so thanks, they are really sweet agates!

    German?

Good to know about the size trait, Roberto - thanks!
  16. I hope you'll share similar pics once it greens up - I imagine it'll be pretty nice!
  17. Yes, and badly damaged. It almost looks like it might have been glued back together after fracturing in half.

    German?

Maybe CAC but I think likely another German.

    Floater??

Looks similar to a Pelt Rainbo but I don't think it is. Maybe German, like Roberto said.

    Germans?

    I agree with Roberto.
