  1. Interesting lot with a Euro vibe, but not anything you would expect to find together. Maybe a collectors reject pile filled out with later 3 color cats and damaged clearies. Not seeing typical German handmades but maybe more interesting ones in the first pic.
  2. Thought black, yellow and red was the requirements. If not, here's a possibillity...
  3. "wurlitzer" hand made in China up to 1 year old approx
  4. No connection, they were a very basic listing like 'old marbles'. Have always wondered what their origin might be, kept the pic for future ref, never seen any before or since, when I read this post thought it might be a possibillity.
  5. In 1907 seems most likely they were hand made. Agree the pinch pontils would be later also not likely to be described as "much beauty". How about these as a possible? Pic from the internet 2006.
  6. That makes no sense to me... if it had any marks on it, it would not be mint...
  7. I have never really understood what 'wet mint' means. To the best of my knowledge 'mint' means without wear or flaws, exactly like the item was produced, (with flaws would be seconds or simply, never mint) IMHO. What exactly is the defenition of 'wet mint'?
  8. There was one just like it on Ebay (only one I've seen)up to a year back, sold for about £80 (if memory is correct).

    Argentina?

A pic from the internet (not mine) found a few years back, hope it is ok to post. Thought it would be interesting for comparison to marbles I find. 'Argentine Bolitas'
  10. Nice find, the marbles in the top pic are original to the set, approx 1". I believe made in 1960 give or take a few years. The board can come with a blue, green or red base and a random color mix of the marbles, orange was also in the basic colors. In the UK the marbles were called 'spiders' by kids in the 1970's but 'wire pull' seems to be the term adopted nowadays. Although the set is marked "made in England" the marbles are German, ironically as the Gibson premises were destroyed during the blitz in 1940 and had to rebuild from scratch after the war.
  11. Same as you would call these 2 on the left start like your one but only the top right is left twist as seen in both poles pics
  12. Beautiful marbles, but the 2 described as left twist are not left twist.
  13. Just a thought.... a double ribbon is 2 ribbons with a different configuration/colorway going on in each (like the one posted above) and a divided core is 2 or more ribbons but the same configuration/colorway in each.
  14. Hi Rob, have read it means "white swirled though transparent base" but that could easily describe a swirl as well. Stephs pic is a great example. Do you have some in your collection? Here is one of mine.
  15. To me a naked core is a single ribbon with no outer bands. A divided core has a central ribbon divided into 2 or more parts and may or may not have outer bands. I could take some pics if you like but chances are someone else has some ready.
  16. Usually for sure, very curious on this one and the squished latt?
  17. Haven't seen one quite like it, anyone recognize the sig? item 250883536879
  18. Sweet! Best like the same 3 as Ann. Is the squished latt all original, like some sort of error marble? Another odd one to the left of the fortune teller, some of the color glass has run out. Bottom right looks like left twist? Nice interesting finds
  19. It's a toss up between the razor ribbon and the driveway.... driveway wins to play with big orbs on!
  20. You sure??? pics are excellent, looks like glass. Never seen this kind before. If you are selling them be sure to consider a few offers before taking one that sounds good.
  21. Nice lot there Winnie! Here's some of mine
  22. #1 I would also call onionskins but curious how some other marble terms came about, so a couple of questions if I may? What are the colors that used to be called English? and what are they now? How is Bristol involved? Is there any provenance to any of these terms?
