  1. Me too, I wonder if anyone can say? So can you say what it would cost to be an investor and part of a specific run? or do investors just sign up and cost is calculated after, depending on what is used and how it goes?
  2. I'd give it plenty shelf space :Happy_143: but not with German handmades. Wonder if there are any more about? Pics?
  3. I have come across a scam where 2 bidders make the price so high that no one else bids, then at the last mo one retracts their bid and the other gets it cheap. No idea what's going on here though.
  4. I have a collection of the vitro or vitro lookalikes all found in the UK, where I live. Some were given to me in the 1970's which I guess were bought new and loose from a toy shop, others I found later in collections within UK. People may be confusing them with the Vacor spaghetti, if you showed a pic of where the ribbons start and end and the gap it may show the difference more. My thoughts on them started with Germany, then I thought US and more recently maybe UK?
  5. What a confusing thread, I still have no idea what marbles it is about! (I'm easily confused though)
  6. That's gorgeous :Happy_143: I would call it contempory. Does vintage have a specific date range?
  7. I agree, but that is a very average example. Looks like the fakers can't produce anything good.
  8. Love the authentic ones, only ever seen one in hand (and a few carpet bowls) I can see how the brushstrokes work on the leaf motifs - its the circles that get me. They are so precise I wondered if the brush is held by a vice thing and the marble is spun round on a turner in front of it. Its just that I cant see someone holding the marble whilst painting a really exact circle around the middle. Also the ones in the above pic that don't work as well are where one circle merges into another but they are not at all shakey. I am trying to imagine how the maker would move the paintbrush around the marbles making these and some way more complex circular patterns than the ones in the pic, but I can't. Have to fully appreciate them however they were made, these are not ugly like the repro/fake ones in the 1st pic.
  9. Great old thread to resurrect, looking forward to more......
  10. Now that last one is a fantastic pic, but love all the orange.
  11. You are not far wrong, but there may be more good stuff about than you think. Try searching newly listed, especially from not regular marble sellers or collectors. You may find some and if you are really quick, you might get to the seller before they accept what they think is an unbeatable offer of a buy it now from someone quicker. However, if you miss them, don't worry, they'll probably be back on the bay again soon but shown in a way you won't miss them, but neither will anyone else.
  12. The Madiya run looked great in the pics on Ebay but never seen any in hand to appreciate what it's about, you're right about affordability though. My $10 would still go on vintage/collection but not managed to get any lately as the price keeps going too high. Looking forward to carboot season.
  13. some modern ones (alas not mine)
  14. So many 'dug' mibs about lately, were more really 'discarded' than sold?
  15. Thanks!!! Your insight to the future is spot on
  16. Surely it's about pure indulgence and having some fun with pics, nothing too rigid. My actual suggestion was not that specific and was probably only used 'cos no one else suggested anything. LOVE the Bill Murrays! Here is some of my festive ones
  17. Loved the red and yellow , just sharin pics for the sake of it. Hope there is a nice glitzy or snowy theme for December!??
