  1. And we think so much of the crud that goes on now is the result of 'modern times'! Overall, 'things' never have changed much and probably never will. Cheers, Bob
  2. How cool! As a long-ago tenant of both 1st. Avenue and P.S. 40 (close enough!) I really enjoyed this story. And while I generally dislike 'authority' and the rules it imposes, let's face it. "Knucklin'" and "Gimpin'" can ultimately only lead to world chaos! ( :
  3. "Clumped up"! HA! That's a pretty 'humble' way to put it! Fantastic!
  4. Whoops. Looks like I was only looking at the signatures and thought Kevin #1 posted twice. On the bright side, this gives me a chance to ask Kevin 2 about his also-outstanding holiday marble. I don't know anything about this style of marble or have a clue what this one is. If you're going to add something to red and green, gold is definitely the way to go! And is the gold one of the neat metallic things or chemical compounds, or just a really well-done color? Thanks, Bob
  5. Kevin, my vote goes with your first instinct of "Nothing says Xmas..." over the "...it says it all." Stunning holiday marble! Bob
  6. Wow. You could hardly get more Christmasy than that group! (Unless of course you dumped Morton's Salt Substitute all over them like some nut did earlier!) Great balance of colors and shapes! Cheers, Bob
  7. Nothing too special, so I'll dress it up a bit.
  8. Hey Sue! You started it! And as such I'm going to answer your 'cleanup' question by continuing my gag pattern. What did Felix Unger used to say? "I'M not going to CLEAN THAT UP!" (If you can't make it out here until the weekend I'll understand.) On the other hand, Felix always did wind up cleaning it up, so we'll end with an 'Emily LaTella'. NEVER MIND! (Witch!) Hopefully interpreted as full of great affection, Bob
  9. Don't think anyone could do better than those, Griff! Although it'll be fun to see what everyone comes up with under more relaxed rules!
  10. What did Alf used to say? HA! I Kill Me! (Sorry! Im in a mood!)
  11. Hey, Alan! Of course this is just an IMHO, but the red/white/blue/yellow 'shadow' is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Thanks!
  12. Always nice to be in awe-struck pain for the holidays. Thanks a lot, guys!
  13. Dig the crazy cat! Guess I'd better put my two cents in while there's still time.
  14. Like the feather in the first shot, Winnie! (I think it's called something like that. ) Would be a beautiful marble even without it. Cheers, Bob
  15. Hi, everyone! Is there some way to automatically have 'sent' P.M.s saved every time? I keep forgetting to check the box, and it's driving me crazy! Thanks, Bob
  16. Normally I'd expect Felicia to go "Oooh!" over a marble like this. But she's definitely a 'lady' and I can understand how she might hesitate to send a message along the lines of "What a Beautiful Buttcrack!" Cheers, Bob
  17. For some reason I never cared for these marbles until I saw the recent pictures of boxes. I think they need each other, although the boxes are pretty appealing in their own right. But definitely a "Pelts + Box" is greater than the sum of the parts situation. "There are so many. Original, reproduction, and then I think some other modern ones which aren't modelled after old boxes?" Would this be the case with actual marbles, as well? Seems likely. Also, I'm thinking I heard that the originals were one-color patches, but please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks, Bob
  18. When I posted this shot of my one and only cullet, I mentioned that one of its great attributes was that the buttcrack made for a terrific marble stand. Since no one took me up on that one, if you'll forgive a 'repost' I'll do it again in case any of the buttcrack fans missed it the first time. ( :
  19. Yes I would. I'd think they were really great Pepsi mibs. But I've always been good at the old emphasize first syllable 'assuming' game! I recently ordered a set of four different-colored marbles specifically because I remembered you teaching me that the Pepsi was only one of a group, and that some of the other colors were nice too. I'll appreciate hearing what you think when I get them; they're one of my 'estate sale' bargain-basement gambles! Bob ( :
  20. The bag, contents, and drawing, are too cool!

    Logging Out

Hey, Lou! Like everyone else, I really appreciate the time and effort spent in making this board so "come on in and make yourself at home", like the opening forum is sub-titled. Know it can't be easy. Hope what I said was taken as intended, as a little "laugh at ourselves" realization that the literal instructions put me in an 'infinite loop'! Cheers, Bob

    Logging Out

Having nothing but admiration and respect for the board administrator, I'm now finding myself in a wicked dilemma. When I log out I find that I've made an error and that the board administrator requires all members to log in! What to do!!!? Bob ( :
  23. Real neat! I guess my contribution will have to be a tiny little bit o' lutz. Bob
  24. Lou, that's a real appealing piece. If you made a marble from it would it be similar or a different effect? Thanks, Bob
  25. I like it! (Both the color and the marbles so far)
