  1. Liked the old one too, but 'change' is not only unavoidable, but a great thing! And 'variety' is always good! Bob
  2. Oh cripes! Was just starting to gather up some transparent Pelts in the hope of doing an impressive photo for Darla, but I can't beat this one. Magnificent!
  3. Hey Bo! Here're a few more transparent base Aces. I really can't get much closer than this. I could crop out single marbles, but I'll let you do that if you want. Currently researching some different ways to get closer, but of course if there's enough of a technical quality loss one might as well just crop anyway. Maybe a Hasselblad with a digital back and macro lens would do it. HAHAHAHAHAHA! Maybe in the next life. Bob
  4. Pretty sure they were described as being aventurine.
  5. And as always a thanks to you for all you do!
  6. Now that you mention it, Bo, the 'name game' here is really kind of interesting. If we were to go into the "Way-back machine" to before the time when any names had been suggested, I'd be more inclined to call your powder blue mib a "Blue Zebra" than the other one. I'm thinking the 'gut' reasoning is that it's the incredible black stripes that should define a "Zebra", and the base color should define the 'type'. With a "White Zebra" of course just being a "Zebra". Both fantastic marbles!
  7. I'm completely blown-away by these Cats! I've always thought of Cat Eyes as simple, and a little boring although with an occasional spectacular design. I had no idea!
  8. Well thanks to Bo for the brilliant choice of a perfect 'changing of the month' black-to-orange transitional marble! (Transitional in the non-marble person sense of the word) And to Ric for the firey orange mib, and the very Alan-like photo. (Big compliment!) So technically perfect, thorough and balanced that even when you choose to do what's essentially an ID photo it becomes a work of art.
  9. Don't think you could have done better with the non-name! Those are some sweet greens! Think there's any relation to this one? This is a pee-wee that doesn't have the nice darker green areas that yours has. Also the fine lines are more defined in the photo than in hand. I guess I thought the 'specks' looked similar. (Hopefully the experienced people here are friends for the most part and won't laugh me off the face of the planet for that last statement!) Cheers, Bob
  10. Geesh! I mentioned something about being 'snowed in' the other day in another topic, but I guess I don't even know the meaning of the term compared to you Indiana guys! Glad the beer stayed cold! :Happy_143:
  11. Have at least as many as I showed here which I haven't shot yet. If it's 'transparent based Aces' that you like, I'll try to pick a few favorites and close in on them. But not until tomorrow. I'm over-worked and under-paid and very tired right now.
  12. Remember the old Doors song? Jabos in the snow... Jabos in the snow... No matter where you go... There're Jabos in the snow... Okay, enough silliness! But I did think the natural 'snow backlight' worked well with the transparent base here. Cheers, Bob
  13. Hey, Craig! I'm watching several of your terrific marbles, but found them directly, while in the bay. My security won't let me near 'tinyurl' dot anything. Don't know if anyone else might be having that problem. Bob
  14. Hey Charles It's a particularly nice group of auctions, and I'm a little ashamed that I'm selfishly not going to respond to your post in order not to call attention to it. Wait a minute... Aww, nuts.
  15. Fantastic! There's no way you'd call this anything but a 'Zebra', and yet it seems so wrong. (In such a great way!) Bob
  16. I'm beginning to think that these possibly 'off-topic' posts are more than acceptable when properly identified. Was very pleased in a similar way when a recent post with the disclaimer "Jabo" wound up being a fun topic without wasting the time of those who are a little tired of them. Can't imagine it myself, but glad that it seemed to work!
  17. Have this deep-down theory that many of us may have started off way-back-when, when we first looked at the moon and thought it was 'neat-looking'. So here's a shot of the moon looking pretty interesting. The ultimate orb! (Plus a planet, I think.) Cheers, Bob
  18. Thanks, Jo! He's awfully serious. Sometimes he wishes he could be more like yours. Mary, I have no idea how you manage to see the things you do, but please keep it up! It's a gift appreciated by others. Thought of that shot as an ID photo, but now I like it! Hey, Edna! Is the the marble you're talking about? Bob
  19. I didn't use to like the "big gloppy specks" as I called them, but they grow on you!
  20. That's it! Isn't that some nice-looking glass? Although I'm embarassed to say that I've certainly proven that posting and drinking don't mix!
  21. Did anyone else always used to enjoy the animations in the '3rd. Rock From The Sun' series? (Can't imagine why any of us would, just wondering!)
  22. Boy! Just beautiful! No idea to what extent the 'dug or not' / 'polished or not' distinctions matter to different people. Personally I'd be willing to polish anything if I thought I'd like it better, although I'd probably ask my friends here first, just in case it was 'morally wrong'! Cheers, Bob ( :
  23. Sounds reasonable to me! Thanks for the responses, Bob ( :
  24. Somehow this one didn't sit right with me, but I don't know enough to say why. Just looked like another one of our classic examples of some kind of outrageousness. (Although the seller's been a member since January 15, so maybe I'm just paranoid!) Any comments? Thanks, Bob ( : http://cgi.ebay.com/bag-and-marbles-pre-tu...A1%7C240%3A1318
  25. The marble made me think of a beatnick 'Pepsi'. I think it looks good with the cullet.
