  1. Thanks for the link to the 'Study Hall'. I don't get there 'on general principle' as often as I'm sure I'd like, but when given an excuse have never been disappointed! Bob
  2. Hi, Edna! Looking forward to your response to Steph's question. Managed to get over the flu just in time to get it again, so couldn't put a similar question together. Boy! You sure have a way of remaining 'politely silent' and then suddenly coming 'out of the blue' with some amazing posts! Thanks for this one and all the others! Started to put together a list of my favorite "Last Runners", expecting it to be 3 or four of them and wound up with 7! And all the 'second-favorites' are really close! It's just an exceptional run! Bob ( :
  3. For those interested, it turns out that Ms. Kalimata was quite thrilled with her 'alien encounter'! And our Martian Marble isn't going anywhere soon because he too is thrilled with the results! For the first time, here's a shot of the proud parents with their new twins! Mom and Dad are looking happy but a bit pale after their experience. Especially Mom, but for gosh sake, look at the size of those babies! Little Agatha looks a lot like her mother! Know everyone will join me in wishing them well!
  4. Goofed up! Wanted it to be bigger than that! Let me try again.
  5. Hiya, Fel! Your shot looked dark on my setup, so at the expense of some unwanted digital photo 'effects' I exaggerated your photo to better see some details in your marbles. Then I thought "well why not post it?" Probably there're some other folks set up like me, so maybe if they scramble the two shots in their brains they'll get a better overall idea. Hope you don't mind my butting in, and hope even more that you get a better response to your inquiry this time! Bob
  6. Awesome. Whoops! Gotta go! Just-stepped-in-a-buck-et of shhhaving cream!
  7. Even as a relative 'newbie' I recognize this name, which says something right off the bat. Glad to hear he remained 'vital' right up to the end. That's a gift in itself. Sincerely, Bob
  8. A Christmas gift from my sweetie! And I figured out where the 'seams' are!
  9. Hey, David! I'm a relative newbie compared to most of these people, but it didn't take me long to see that there's just 'something' about Jabos! Glad to hear you'll be around enough to make sure that this 'something' continues! Best wishes, Bob
  10. Thanks, Mary! Wasn't a good coin choice for size comparison, but I liked the eagle on it. I like yours too. Had an immediate 'feel-good' reaction to it, which doesn't happen all the time! Do your Eagles have that slightly-softer transition from color to color which I'm seeing in mine? Normally I'd think I'd like razor-sharp edges, but there's a nice 'glow' here which I haven't seen before. Bob
  11. Potential responses might apply to the photograph, the technical observation, the aesthetic observation, or the implied question. Did I wind up inheriting the infamous 'VOODOO MARBLE O' DEATH' and no one wants to tell me?
  12. Softer edges to the pattern than on other Jabos I've seen. A very nice look, although I wouldn't judge it 'better' or 'worse'. Don't know at this point if that's characteristic of Eagles or just this particular one. Cheers, Bob
  13. It was presented as such, but I wouldn't know for certain. And check out the other 'hidden' Jabo reference!
  14. The Christmas Eve edition of The Washington Times contained this review of what looks like an interesting movie!
  15. What an interesting thought! I've never played, myself, but would guess a matte shooter could give a little more 'English' to the shot. (?)
  16. I guess they may have meant 7/8, although I'd still venture to say that they didn't immediately go from four ton blocks to 7/8 inch cubes.
  17. The news caption's wording seems a little questionable. I think they left out a step or two. Sounds like a 7-8 inch cube is ground down into one marble!
  18. That sure would make "A Fine Christmas Gift", Steph!
  19. Just realized that while getting caught up in the excitement I forgot about the non-Jabo part of the original question. Sorry about that!
  20. I have no idea if it's Christmas-related, but the more-than-normal number of 'historical' posts have all been really interesting! In this case does Bill Tow's appreciation for blue and greens mean that the marbles aren't necessarily appropriate for the box, or just that of all the potentially correct marbles he could have chosen these are the ones he liked? Thanks, Bob
  21. Well I'll be darned! My most recent purchase! Don't even have it yet; this is the auction photo.
  22. I think the ????? is "rubbish". The only comment I'm capable of making here, being a New York City boy, is that his residence, club, and place of business were all very "exclusive" addresses. Cheers
  23. Mollycoddles! What a terrific word! And the cartoon. I'm dying! What a great Saturday night!
  24. Although any young man cursed at birth by the name 'Francis Dinkey' deserves anything good he gets.
