  1. I find myself thinking twice before buying from a Canadian seller because of the high postage rate ($13 - $15), but that might be a good thing. But in the end, it's never stopped me from buying a marble I really wanted.
  2. Wow -- I have a small handful but have never seen a bag of them! Please photo and post them when they come! Please please please . . .
  3. Oh, those are nice! They take my mind off of the obsession with having Alan's box of Cardinal Reds next to my box of Cerises. In reality. In my house.
  4. The first one looks like a Ravenswood, but I don't know about the size. Maybe Alan will stop by . . .
  5. YOU TALKIN' TO ME????? YOU TALKIN' TO ME?????
  6. Boy was I surprised. These glow orange. A little dimly -- not at all like the "hot" glow of uranium glass -- but it's there.
  7. Whid is good, but I'm still stuck on "holt." I like that one particularly. Maybe it's because I like otters.
  8. Sisters, Oregon??? A couple of old, old friends live in Sisters. And I've been to "The Biggest Little Rodeo in the World," the Sisters Rodeo! Whee! Went to the parade, too. I have a weakness for bull riding. Well, I like the really mean bulls. And the cowgirls who put glitter on their horses' hooves. That the 3 Sisters in the background of your photo? Is one of them still . . . ah . . . bulging a little bit near the bottom?
  9. Isn't it a wonderful thing? All these marbles lying around, holding a secret . . . Before and after
  10. I like drizzle marbles. Almost looks like a slag. Or is that a rust-colored ribbon in the last pic, near the bottom?
  11. Painted clay. "Commies."
  12. Even without pics, I can tell you that blue-, green-, and amber-based Indians are pretty hard to find. Much less common than deep purple or red. Although I think some of them get overlooked. People just assume that because they look black, they are. Always check! What color blue do you have? I have one that is surprisingly light-colored once it's back-lit. Almost medium teal. Is yours like that, or is it a dark blue?
  13. Have only heard that manganese is the source for that orange glow . . . I never heard selenium connected with UV. Interesting. Must go light up my Cerises and other red slags tonight, since that's the red colorant in pretty much all machine-made marbles. If they glow orange I'll be shocked! Not like it's the first time I've received a Marble Shock, though. I'll be interested to see if anyone knows where that light blue comes from. And occasionally I've seen lavender. The last glass mentioned in that link article Steph posted, neodymium, is crazy. I have a "slag" made by Mike Edmonds out of neodymium glass, and I have amused my non-marble co-workers with it. I hand them this pretty, pale, icy blue slag (it's a little larger than 3/4) and ask them to keep holding it and walk outside with me. When we get outside, I tell them to look at the pretty blue marble again -- and the expression on their faces when they open their hands and find a lovely lavender marble is one of those "priceless" things. Pale blue in fluorescent light, lavender in incandescent and day light.
