I wish I had written down where I got all my marbles the moment I was at the antique store or even the State I was in! I was SO happy to find them that I felt like a little kid in a candy store with $10! I think I got that particular marble when I was in Canada andto the best of my knowledge, none of the marbles the 2 brothers and one sister had were Vacor. They brought me at least 9 BIG jars of marbles to go through - I got pelts, MK, slags, Vitro, and cateyes - MANY cateyes!!!!! I was there SO long, they gave me a bottle of water while I was looking over the marbles. They brought me a large box lid to pour them (gently of course) into so I could look closer at the choices. I got real deals too I think. Later, I'll post vintage mibs for you all to see that I got.

lol, I understood only a few words there...lol (just kidding) I guess I am one of the few that L O V E cats - the colors, patterns are nice! Oh, later I'll shoot pix of my 3 color hybrids and 3 color caged veined cats - assuming people want to see them...lol Oh, I have several 2 color caged veined cats too I got on my vacation.

hummm, I can't believe no one has said anything about these mibs. I've never seen anything like these before. And here I thought I'd made an impressive major score...lol

You know me - I usually don't say much about the work I do - just ask if you like it or not basically. Tonight's torching was different - as I worked I recalled the visit to the Akro museum of Roger and Claudia Hardy's where I bought the best Akro cullet I've ever seen - ever! then I picked out some Jabo Joker Salute cullet afterward remembering the great time I had at the run and learning SO much. Finally I picked out Italian glass rods and played with them. My kiln is set for 5 hours working time and I used ALL the time making marbles with only 4 breaks - I know it wasn't safe and I needed more breaks BUT I can't remember the time passing by so fast - I was so inspired by the experience I had on my vacation from places I'd never been before that these memories spouted out tonight my friends. It is 1:21am here in California as I type - I am so wired I can't sleep! Right now, I feel I did my best cullet work tonight and I had to tell my friends about it - yeah you might think I am trying to break my right arm patting myself on the back but I really feel so inspired by knowing a lot of the history of Akro, being there at a marble making machine and pulling Italian rods that it surely will show when I open the kiln 8 1/2 hours from now. But there is a small glitch - tomorrow I have to drive 1 1/2 hours to San Diego where my friend is in a hotel visiting the US from France so I can't see the results of tonight's torching until I get back from visiting him nor can I share pictures tomorrow with you guys - bummer...lol. Anyway now I have got it put of my system, off to the shower and to bed where my wife is fast asleep - shush, don't wake her... nighty-night all!

Here are some mibs I picked up on my 8n week vacation - like any of them? I also got these communion glasses at an antique store - 38 of them so I made the display racks this morning for them to show marbles - 19 glasses in each rack. Rich

I totally agree Ric BUT the interactions I have seen here show incite, desire and are educational. I personally have learned a lot from the documentations that were given about some of the history. I agree - a useless conversation about the original question BUT not useless in learning about marbles. You see, I have been studying marbles for 1 year and 7 months and the things cited here at MC have been of great help in my path of learning. This is my point basically and I hope to learn more as time passes. I had a college class once where the instructor on the first night asked, "Any questions?" before he started teaching the curriculum. I sat there thinking, how do I know what question to ask if I never had the class before. The same applies here. Not knowing as much as the experts here, how do I know what question to ask? The question of who named the corkscrew may never have an answer BUT the posts attempting to answer that question are assisting in my education of marbles. It is for the above reasons I enjoyed the posts as well as my laughter at the sarcasm!

In my opinion, the journey of looking for an answer to a question someone asks is the destination, not the final answer. Making fun during the journey is great too. "total waste of web space"..... NOT!

How does one find the "Gallery" to upload to? I went to the Forums button and didn't see "gallery." I went to General Marble & Glass Chat and no "gallery" either.

Tried today 8/16/11 and no luck in attaching a picture to a new post - it's broken...lol Added by Lou to see if attachments are possible
