1" Akro Sparkler Shooters
richsantaclaus replied to richsantaclaus's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Ron Shepherd had 3 of the same marbles + 3 Masters that looked EXACTLY each other. The only difference was mine had a cleab transparent base and the Masters had a yellowish tint. I also saw one like mine at the Akro Museum (the Hardy's place) when they took me and my wife on a tour - W O W - what a moment THAT was for me! So I am convinced these are Akro. -
That is a good point Galen. As you saw in the thread I posted about my own cullet work looking VERY much like the Jabo's work. lol, is your horse wormy now?...lol

I took these marbles to the Akro Museum in West Virginia and I saw one behind glass - it, of course, was in mint+ condition! I wish you could hold these in person, they seem to exude art! -

Last pix - I can't remember what State I was in, maybe it was Door County Wisconsin in a huge antique barn. The owner had only his stuff inside it - it was about 30,000 sq. ft. in size!!!!! These marbles were in a big old jar under a wooden table, stuck way back in a cardboard box where is was difficult to see. I had my LED light...lol! Rich -
Wanna see what I found on my vacation? These are SHOOTER (1") Akro Sparklers from the Clinton Isreal era at Akro - woo, woo!!!!!

Jabo Company History In Pictures
richsantaclaus replied to richsantaclaus's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Thanks Al. I did think there would be more interest on this topic than shown so far since it's such a grand undertaking but hey, it's all good! Remember, it is a work that is ongoing and subject to change when I receive pictures with dates for documentation for the article. I want it to be as exact and accurate as possible. -
I voted "old" after I took one of your pictures into Photoshop and blew it up to 400% and looked real close at each marble. If they were new, there wouldn't be so many places of wear. A marble that size would have a much smoother surface in my opinion, unless the person making the marble was not a good technician...lol. Anyway, that's my guess.

I am writing an article on the history of The Jabo Company. It is a work in progress and will stay that way probably for a long time as I am continually getting people to send my photos with years like you'll see at my bling. If you have time, check it out and let me know if you like what I am doing. So far, I am at 2006 and heading toward 2007. I have pictures up to Jabo Joker Salute to post and most everything in between. http://www.santasbli...rbles&Itemid=53 Thanks Rich

Did you break the cullet using a Jack Hammer?....lol I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist...lol They look cool! Are you planning on drilling a small hole so people can use these pieces as a pendant? Are you planning on selling them as cabochons? Rich

The credit card number is just a formality of the eTsy site. I only use PayPal there and have had no problems (knock, knock) and I did give eTsy a credit card number because PayPal wants it and since eTsy uses PayPal, eTsy has to follow PayPal's rules. Does this help? As far as eTsy is concerned, they are totally fair and honest so far since I joined in selling handmade items. If you decide to sell there, good luck!

Answer - the one on the RIGHT is my work. In hand, if you mixed them together and tried to separate them back out, it would be a VERY difficult job. Thanks everyone for playing!!!!! -

FACTS: 1) The Jabo Company did a special private run on November 16th, 2009 called Jabo Tribute to Legacy Run (3/4"). 2) About 1 1/2 years ago, I bought 50 pounds of Fenton glass. 3) In Arizona, I buy green aventurine. 4) I had NO idea in June 10th, 2011 that this run was ever done. This day, for 4 1/2 hours, I torched out in my garage using MY Fenton cullet making marbles to sell later since I knew I was going on an 8 week vacation. 5) I took some of these marbles I made with me and showed them to Ron Shephard when I visited him. 6) After he picked his lower jaw off the floor, he went into one of his several marble rooms and came out with a large plastic jar full of marbles from the Jabo Tribute to Legacy Run. Situation: Rom took my marbles and set them on the table. Then he too the Jabo Tribute to Legacy Run marbles and placed them right next to mine careful not to mix them. Challenge: Pick which set of marbles Jabo made and pick the set I made. Did I make set #1 on the left OR did I make set #2 on the right?
