  1. So the packaged marbles below are Hopf? I obtained some packages from Germany years ago and the sellers History didn't match what we knew (at the time) about them being Dutch from Veiligglas.
  2. This came to mind when I saw the OP But some important questions about the OP marble, did I miss the size? And it does kinda look like Oxblood?
  3. The top middle I consider to be 'Imperial'. They all have varying degrees of translucency. Or maybe now I'm confusing Imperial with Ringer. arg.
  4. ^agree. And in this thread I learned about the newer look-alikes.
  5. I'm terrible with these but Carnelian was the first name that came to me (now I need to go search).
  6. It's authentic, not contemporary. Leroy did some work on it (I know, I know) but it is an eye-catcher for sure.
  7. Nice example. A little sparse on the green compared to most
  8. ? OP marble looks like a Rainbo to me
  9. Alley was my first thought, but not as familiar with these swirls. Foreign was my second thought. I pictured Ravenswood as having orange ribbons diving deeper and a lighter blue. But I don't know what would make it "premium" *shrug*
  10. ^getting closer, but to me the best examples are in the salesman sample case Ron posted a while back
  11. Based on construction, size, and orange peel surface texture I'd consider European sparkler. With a couple less colors than normal.
  12. Wow, nice marble. I had one similar as a kid with a bit more white and black streaks. Only other time I saw one similar was quite a few years ago in a collection with a bunch of other smaller Masters.
  13. Equater of a marble is similar to an equater you'd see on a globe. Basically, a sphere at its widest distance around.
  14. Is there any white? Or is the base glass yellow? Either way not sure if it's a slag from the pics
  15. Sorting through my (somewhat) neglected machine mades and got these out for the light of day, first time in a while. Hope you enjoy
  16. Looks like an unassuming catseye? Probably some type of subjective sentimental value, in which case you should label it so it's not lost in the mix.
  17. ^^agree that seeing in marbles in person and speaking to knowledgeable collectors is a quicker way to learn.... This is great if you live in (or able to travel to) an area where marble shows are hosted. But like anything, it takes time and effort to process info without 'overloading'. Curious about the window you mentioned? I repurposed a double pane window and was able to fit the marbles between the glass panes without gluing, mayble this is an option for you
  18. For consideration (pic from ebay)
  19. Looks kind of like a swirl to me. At that size and way the glass looks in the pics I'd wonder if it's a Champion new old fashion. With a twisted pattern.
  20. Correct. I imagine some end up in gardens from old flower pots being dumped.
  21. I thought I had a match for the OP in my Vitro pile, but after rooting around these are all I could come up with (search continues) Bottom right are obviously Pelt Carry on!
