Cool. There are a few specialized collectors here into big Onionskins

What kind of core is this on the mica .75?
I'llhavethat1 replied to mccracken's topic in Marble I.D.'s
An unintentional core probably from contamination or (more likely in this case) chemical reaction in the glass. For some reason oxblood red shows up in aqua glass sometimes so I'd look closer and see if that's the case here -
Nice Marbles! Pretty good collection so far. You may have found there are quite a few "nuances" when it comes to marbles that help group by certain names or types. Some collectors will even take it to the point of splitting hairs when it comes to the finest details of grouping marbles. Not to mention the disagreement of certain terms and misinformation published in books over the years... but I think that's part of what makes it all fun! So anyways! Yes your marbles are handmade German, most fit the definition of Onionskin with a couple questionable as Joseph Coat or some other variation. Welcome and good luck

Looks like it from here.

Pretty sure that isn't a Peltier but a new(er) Marble King. That being said, no idea if there is a name associated with it

Some unusual combos there, nice

Smaller one is 3/4"

The alternating yellow and white core gives it a boost.

A Vacor Atmosphere with lutz??—Oh yes it is!
I'llhavethat1 replied to akroorka's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Its not a type i collect but if someone showed me that example and said it was a vacor atmosphere? I'd probably say meh and keep walking. ...although the Lutz is kinda neat -
Looks handgathered. Not the most spectacular nine and tail pattern. If it was a true orange or peach color would make it a bit more desirable than amber. Condition looks a bit worn

Some type of moonie. Nice size -
Potential Marble Purchase - German Melon Balls
I'llhavethat1 replied to Melissa's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Pretty sure im seeing some ground/faceted pontils. It's possible they are what he thinks. Pretty big though...and condition + colorlor nudge it towards the 'is it too good to be true' questions...but definitely worth a closer look -

Yep, impact marks. Seems like older quality glass fractures in this pattern. Now I'm curious how the surface looks so smooth in the first set of pics?
-
Cool marbles. I like the color combo on the last one
-
to me the OP looks foreign (maybe imperial) and the second marble is CAC
-
To me it looks like a German Mica marble with some contamination in the glass (which can have the appearance of a different color, etc)
-
So, I'm curious if these 'Kingly Line' marbles were also made individually, on a torch?
-
Nice examples

Better pics would help but Modern was my first thought. Pretty bold and vivid. Is the red Oxblood? If light passes through (looks like it should) is it a green base?
-
Yeah, I estimated around 3600. The toughest part was removing the slightly larger ones from the group to have the weight more uniformly distributed (didn't want any high points for the glass to break).

I'd been meaning to free up some space and got around to it today. This is the top of an old change table.
