  1. MFCs are handgathered. So I'm saying no to that. Not saying yes to Pelt. Just no to MFC.
  2. Gotta be a contemporary handmade. No idea by whom though.
  3. They started in 1946, and were still running in the 1960's. Bill Heaton sold his factory to the Bogard familly in 1971. So Heaton was around awhile and I wouldn't think "rare" applies unless speaking of some particular color combo. But they weren't a prolific manufacturer. They ran one machine at a time.
  4. "Wirepull" generally refers to marbles made by the Veiligglas company in Amsterdam. I believe your marble to have been made by Vacor de Mexico, as Chad indicated. It looks similar to their marble called a Streamer, but as far as I know Streamers did not have an iridescent finish. I don't know what style name that iridescent finish would indicate.
  5. Winnie was our beloved collector from Amsterdam who uncovered most of what we know about Veiligglas.
  6. Marble King is a good guess. I'm somewhere between Marble King and Vitro. If Marble King, I think it would be on the somewhat newer side. Like late 60's or later. Not thinking it's particularly special.
  7. I think there are a fair number of marble shows which would be in reach for you. That would be a great place to go with your son.
  8. If you mean digging for marbles in the ground at a place with good odds for finding many marbles, like at one of the old factory sites, I don't think there are any conveniently or legally accessible ways to do that anymore.
  9. Hello. Welcome. That is a good question. I will move your thread to the main forum so that more people will see it.
  10. Usually "hybrid" means some accidental trait, but with the Vitro cat's eyes it's a standard trait for them to have two or more colors on a single vane. Still we call it hybrid.
  11. For collages we will have to remember that we can click on it a couple of times and get it to enlarge. We can see how that goes. This marble is a Vitro hybrid cat's eye. It's from about 1960.
  12. Welcome! Marbles are a slippery slope, indeed.
  13. Well, there ... a brown one .... Set of 5 UV Uranium Glass Marble King Marbles/ Black Light Vaseline Glow in Dark | eBay
  14. With glow under UV, then that pushes me to Marble King. Look up the Marble King Wee Glow style. I don't know if it came with brown patches, but that's now my best guess.
  15. That is a pretty crazy light effect. Totally unfamiliar to me. Marble King or Vacor would be my guess for the marble. There is a marble that I got from a Vacor assortment set which was very reminiscent of MK patterns. I have no idea what it looked like with a light shone on it. And I don't know if I still have it in any identifiable Vacor grouping. Also since it's not a well known Vacor version, if I don't find the one I had before then I have my doubts that I'll ever see another with provenance. So I just mention now that I saw a Vacor once upon a time which your marble reminds me of.
  16. And someone is bidding on it.
  17. The bottom right may be an Akro Moss Agate. Not seeing much of it so it's possible that other views could turn it into something else. But from this one view it looks like an Akro Moss Agate.
  18. The top 2 marbles here are Marble King Bumblebees.
  19. These are Vitro Yellow Jackets
  20. I split up the Any ideas? thread where I could. Rather than add new groups of marbles onto a thread where there has already been much discussion, it is better to start a new thread. Also, it is better to have smaller groups in each thread. A greater percentage of marbles will get ID-ed if you only have a few marbles per thread.

    Any ideas?

I love the look of clearies. And the clearies helped Vitro stay open in the 1950's when American marble companies were struggling with the popularity of the new cat's eyes which were coming over from Japan. So historically important too!
