  1. Don't know how I missed that bit of information all these years. Cricket is such a famous sport ... and yet I didn't even know that. My brother's family moved to England last year, which is why I know now.
  2. Well, that's sad news. Hate anyone to go under, but with a name like Marbles, had to root for it.
  3. My turn. Three modern multi-color Marble Kings. Two are 5/8" and M- at least. The big one is 1" and NM+. Looks good -- but closer inspection found moons/sparkles. [Edit: subsurface moons/sparkles] The smaller ones are the classic, red, blue, yellow, green combo. The larger has lavender instead of blue, which was hard to photograph. Colors are more muted in hand than they came out in the pictures (for anyone not familiar with this marble style already and not knowing what to expect in hand). Same deal as Bud posted. I'll pay shipping. High bid at noon central time on Tuesday the 14th wins.
  4. Hi. Lonnie. Nice to meet you!
  5. Cricket matches last for days. Up to five days. With special rules for taking breaks for lunch, tea and drinks. My experience with cricket is watching a few seconds at a time in British television shows. So I was amazed today to learn this.
  6. We all went in on lottery tickets and won, so now we're all millionaires. Sorry you weren't here to get in on it.
  7. Thanks for reassuring me that these are real. Here's a good English word for you if you don't know it yet .... "smithereens". You familiar with that one?
  8. Cute .... but on a serious note ... Schiller sounds like what causes fire in marbles with striations ... maybe?
  9. My turn soon. Camera found. Marbles chosen. /end tease
  10. A neat list of adjectives for describing different kinds of luster and sparkle and iridescence -- Bob sent it to me. Nice pics. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lustre_(mineralogy)
  11. That would be a very nice display ... plus a nice way to keep oneself selective. I like it a lot. Need to remember.
  12. I'll vote yes. A slightly fuzzy vote though.
  13. Looks like we're in for six more weeks of winter. I can dig it!
  14. I covet charm strings. Hoping to come across one for a nice price in the wild. I stored my buttons in different ways like I did my marbles. Sometimes little baggies, sometimes in partitioned trays in Riker cases, sometimes bubble wrap lined boxes.
  15. That PPP is something else! Makes me think of an eyeball as drawn in an anatomy text.
  16. Like! Czech, yes? I might get into buttons again. I mostly sold off my buttons which I started collecting shortly before getting into marbles. I kept a couple of couple of different, interesting glass buttons. *putting it in queue to get pictures of*
  17. Sometimes I wonder if people make up words for these lists. I hope these are real. http://mentalfloss.com/article/28315/15-wonderful-words-no-english-equivalent
