  1. The new Master book is Master Glass, so it was from a later period. But it does have some older pictures in it so it's possibly there. I put my books away for my move and don't have them all back out yet. But a Master sample box is a good motivator for finding old books and pix.
  2. Yes, unusual box. I only ever remember seeing one or two with the Cloudys labelled . (not that I see any Cloudys in this one ... edit: oh, wait, there might be one). Can't remember offhand if the other sample box I saw had that design, but just having a label for Cloudys makes this unusual in my experience.
  3. I guess .... you get some good Vacors over there!
  4. The glass looked Vitro first, and then my brain tried to get it to be Akro. Later musings made me play with the idea of Cairo Novelty. Are you able to isolate where the ribbons end?
  5. I just received word of the passing of Tom JInks. A member of the marble community. Some of us will recognize his name from the Jinks run at Jabo in the early years of the investor runs. Prayers for his friends and family.
  6. I always love a Cairo bump. Don't know why I'm so fond of them, but I am.
  7. Interesting. I don't see a "Recent Activity" option, but this discussion has made me look around and see other options I didn't notice before. Like an "Activity" button and that leads to a "Content I Started" button.
  8. Glass looks older to me. If that's a Vacor style, I want some of 'em! (I don't recognize it.)
  9. History flashback ... was reminded today ... Akro Prize Names were supposed to be called Fire Opals. That's the name which won the 1930 contest for naming Akro's new marble style. Prize Name was just the temp name on the boxes with the marbles and contest coupons in them. But Akro stuck with the Prize Name label for the basic corkscrew ... and called a different marble Fire Opal. ... and then the Fire Opal name appears not to have stuck around long.
  10. Oh yes, what size is the marble?
  11. That is a nice old marble. The condition reduces the monetary value significantly. It still manages to be pretty in spite of the chips so that's good. I'm gonna guess only a few dollars for it. However, I am not familiar with the market for this old German handmades.
  12. Randy, here are your threads. http://marbleconnection.com/topic/22685-canton-marble-show/ http://marbleconnection.com/topic/22681-so-how-was-the-canton-show/ Not removed. It's funny that you mention that though because I saw your two topics one day, and thought about merging them into one. So I tried to find both at the same time, and I only saw one. I thought maybe one actually did disappear. But sure enough, both are there. If you go to your profile page, are you able to see them there? (Click on your avatar and it should send you to your profile page.) JoAnne, we all were having problem with the logging out thing, but a glitch got fixed and the advice was to reload lingering problem pages. If a page shows you not logged, try reloading it, and see if that makes you show up. *fingers crossed*
  13. I think the cat eye with the lavender is not so easy to find.
  14. Just a spectator -- I don't know Dutch -- just admiring it.
  15. Oh gosh, it does look to be in the ballpark. But we need a Chrissy person to say. The second choice for that color combo is Alley.
  16. Ha! Where are all these food marbles coming from?
  17. Don't know how I missed that bit of information all these years. Cricket is such a famous sport ... and yet I didn't even know that. My brother's family moved to England last year, which is why I know now.
  18. Well, that's sad news. Hate anyone to go under, but with a name like Marbles, had to root for it.
  19. My turn. Three modern multi-color Marble Kings. Two are 5/8" and M- at least. The big one is 1" and NM+. Looks good -- but closer inspection found moons/sparkles. [Edit: subsurface moons/sparkles] The smaller ones are the classic, red, blue, yellow, green combo. The larger has lavender instead of blue, which was hard to photograph. Colors are more muted in hand than they came out in the pictures (for anyone not familiar with this marble style already and not knowing what to expect in hand). Same deal as Bud posted. I'll pay shipping. High bid at noon central time on Tuesday the 14th wins.
