  1. One more note for now. The Silver Jubilee of the Boy Scouts was in 1935. Were they still celebrating it in 1937? I'll guess they were since even if this is fake, I'd expect someone to get that detail right if they're going to bother going for something so obscure to begin with, but it's something to check on.
  2. I hope I didn't slander a decent box. Here are the first reasons which made me think "fake". 1. It's very different from the Akro items I know about. 2. The label is irregular -- and looks like it always was -- the edges don't look like they were ever straight, much less cut by professional process. 3. It has a slightly lacquery look which reminds me of how Pavcraz "aged" boxes. I also thought about comparing fonts. However, I had some errands to run and didn't get that far.
  3. ^^ Bump. Peltsignal! Might need to start a new thread about that to get it in the subject line .....
  4. This thread has gone to .... Oh never mind! Just kidding! Had to say it!
  5. Oh how lovely. Let's move there.
  6. Looks fake to me. Location Florida? That's not one of the locations I recognize for our better-known ring of marble item forgers, but this item does not look good to me.
  7. Oh, I see. You thought the oxblood should show up behind the green U, and it didn't. When you mentioned seeing different things in Jabos under different lighting my imagination went another way. I thought of some of the darker Tributes which turn out to have rich colors when you cast a strong light onto their surface.
  8. Some of Bernie's beauties: http://marbleconnection.com/gallery/album/326-bernies-mibs/
  9. You performed a service. With everyone else being smiling and nodding who knows how long both sides might have suffered through this.
  10. The last time I did bok choy I added seasoned beef slices to the soup and I was in heaven.
  11. I stir fried it once. But I didn't like the oil to vegetable ratio, so I mostly use it in soup. I slice it in fairly narrow strips and put the thicker, white parts of the bok choy in the soup about three minutes before done cooking, and the leafier parts of the bok choy in about a minute later. I've thought about cooking it with egg, the way I sometimes do with cabbage or spinach, but I can't remember if I've ever made it that far with bok choy. I usually pick up several instant soup packages when I'm in picking up bok choy, and by the time I'm done eating those soups the bok choy is gone.
  12. Dandelion omelet. Yes, I said it! I ate dandelions! The flowers, with the green base, but not the rest of the stem. Mixed in egg and scrambled. And I might do it again ....
  13. Looks like lemonade. Do you have a blacklight? They're fun at times like this.
  14. Oxblood! Looks like you ended up with a few nice ones.
  15. Looks kind of like fire-pocked glass from here. What do you think it's made of? I can't think of what kind of marble it could be other than a damaged game marble.
  16. The big pale greenish one near the middle of the big jar?
  17. Here's George Sourlis' Rosenthal poster that I posted a bit ago. I got another poster from him yesterday. I have a few. I need to make a thread for all of them.
  18. Stunningly vivid colors there.
