  1. Another view of the same mib. These are large pix so just click on the pic.
  2. Thanks everyone! These are stone, no question in my mind about that. They all seem to have natural crystal formed tables. I am very tempted to polish one of those tables to see what might be under there. I'm guessing the white layer is oxidized/calcified/petrified or some such process on mother natures behalf. They are really out of round so it is only fair to add that the diameter of the matched pair ranges from 1.25 to 1.5 inches.
  3. That sure is a cute picture of you I just saw a minute ago Steph, somewhere here at Lou's! I'm sure there is some mathematical explanation to the order of the pattern on those rocks. Look again. lol
  4. Two nice shooters. GR is 3/4 Dead Mint! The Flaming Dragon Hybrid with aventurine (Green galaxy?) is much larger.
  5. The two larger ones are each around an inch and a quarter.
  6. I just got in from the big Round Top show which takes place twice a year just off Highway 290, half way between Austin and Houston. Although rare, I didn't come across any marble finds this time. At the end of the show this man walks in with three green and white stones carved into rough looking orbs. I bought them and put them away since I was busy doing something else at the time. Oh, did I forget to remind you to pull up a chair? Well, to make a long story even longer, I started looking at them again and I noticed a peculiar ring pattern etched somehow onto the surface of the many faceted-looking sides. Or were these naturally formed lines? Such as a large roundish garnet crystal. Here are the carved orbs and there is just no tellin' how old they are or what they are carved from. They are very heavy and the large two are jade-like and you can see some weird patterns of what look like symmetrical dots, almost as if they were buried a long time in cloth. Please tell me what you think about them. They are heavy and the difference in weight between them is only .9 (point nine) grams. One is 63.6 grams and the other is 62.7 grams. I wonder if they might have been some kind of counterweights? Scroll down for all pictures. Enjoy.
  7. Howdy Y'all, I am Roger in Austin, Texas. I am a Pelt-head and I also collect pre-Columbian artifacts. Especially the jade variety.
  8. When you drive all the way from Austin to Waller just to see an old marble tree! Someone else got really excited and called it a Skittles tree! LOL! Thanks again Edna!
  9. Back in the day wasn't this the "None known to exist" size? What a monster! Very cool, thanks for sharin"!
  10. Here's Edna now, talking to a couple of passers by about Weldon's marble tree. Edna is really looking good, huh?
  11. Lastly, she showed me this huge chest full of original packages which overflowed into a large box beside it. Impressive.
  12. More... Hey Willie, eat your heart out! The sunburst by that penny is an incher!!! (He drools)
  13. I won't show you everything, you'll have to go see for yourself. All I can sat is you'll be glad you made the drive to Waller. More pics...I'm such a tease, right?
  14. ...our Texas marble club president, that is. Edna Eaton needs no introduction, but her collection of mibs and related items has gone unmentioned/unseen for way too long. Upon my arrival I was frozen at the driveway entrance by Weldon's famous marble tree. It is an inviting and colorful candy-land experience. What a sight it must be for the first time for a youngster who stumbles on this tree in their neighborhood. Edna's cats were napping away and one of them (Fluffy kitty?) even had a paw over its ear (marble-hangover?) while we vigorously discussed marbles for what seemed to be hours. What fun we had. I took a few pictures that I thought everyone might enjoy. Thank you again Edna, for the warm Southern hospitality. You guys just don't know what you're missing. ~Speedy
  15. Our hearts are with you in this sad time. Does anyone have any Alox pictures to share?
  16. Lesson of the day: Do not use a circle template to accurately measure a mib. Use a nice set of calipers. (thanks willie) I was off a whole 1/16th of an inch which made a difference in the ID, in parts of this thread. Sorry about that. Thanks for all the wonderful pictures everyone!!
  17. Finally got a chance to show these two to Willie (Marbledude) and he sez Champion all the way. Dang! Those are hard ones. BTW, my template must be off, these two are really around 5/8.
  18. Since most Cairo's fluoresce, which colors should I test, if an option? thnx
  19. Thanks Winnie, those do have a lot of crap in the orange, huh. That royal blue is a little different color tho. Edna, I can see butt-cracks in the Jabos. I'm so glad most of them have them. It really aids in the ID process when all else fails. I have some mibs for you, are you available any time soon? I'll be in Carmine in the next day or so. pm me thnx.
  20. Thanks Ric, well see...I dunno. I'm still leaning Ravenswood.
