Found These In Dallas Last Week
Speed Racer replied to Speed Racer's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Edna (and Chuck) they will both go thru a 19/32 template. But one is a little tight. Couple new views. Yes, mostly bubbles but some seeds in there too. No damage. -

Thanks everyone! Thank you Steph, I was guessing Ravenswood on those two. I saw a close example at Joe's (thanks Joe!!!) Marbles site just now. It seems to me that Ravenswood's brown is caused from an orange mix/blend. I have one more of these (from same jar) that has an erupting annealing fracture that almost will cut you if you handle it too quickly. I guess this color combo was slightly unstable. Anyone else seeing this on the orange and blue and white (Ravens) combos? -

And since this one hardly ever makes an appearance here is a better side of that Alley. For anyone who has never seen one of these, the AV follows the swirls very well and is heavily peppered throughout. -

I had one like that once..a big-un. not with that ace base but it did have a weird twist and close seams that added so much to it.

Thanks, always glad to share. Does anyone know who made the two in post #5? -

The flaming Dragon came out better for you in post #7 check it out. I have a few of those small cloisonné animals. But not the pig. Good for you. -

You got it! It came out a little blurry. I'll try again later for you as my battery is recharging at the moment. -

Yep. Thanks. I wonder who made these two? They are killer. And just look at all the orange glass everywhere. All those masters are orange! Did you spot two (Master) tiger eyes? -

Trying to get a zoom of the Alley flame with aventurine...(the large mib above the Akro lemonade ox) -
Sometimes marbles show up when you least expect it. Someone brought me this jarful which has a nice alley flame totally loaded with aventurine. A few nice pelts including the shooter Flaming Dragon there, and swirls galore. Talk about making my day. Enjoy!

Rainbo. Gotta love that ace base. Is this one of those 'tweeners'?

Wirepulls Vs Swirls - Is There A Fine Line Here?
Speed Racer replied to Speed Racer's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Thank you both, and yes Ric, it does have a certain Alley-ness about it. Sometimes they can also start to go in the direction of a slag. Gotta love it!! -

Thanks Steph. I can follow the continuous swirl from head to tail inside the transparent base on most of these. This one really gets me. So all are swirls then. Cool!! -
Awesome...drool...more drool...

Will this ever end? As an innocent bystander I can only read what others are saying and try to make up my own mind given my own life experiences. I can appreciate that some may have in fact remained very professional, as in your case Ron, when it comes to digging and record keeping. And I can see why your feathers get ruffled quickly when you feel your credibility is getting stepped on a bit when Galen speaks the truth about what might have been happening at the digs over the years and it seems to me he is not accusing you of anything but rather he is reinforcing a belief that even under the strictest of supervisions there are always some unsupervised shenanigans For whatever reason, seeding digs just for a laugh or perhaps for profit, just because they can, is to be expected. We all expect/assume what is supposed to be lying under the surface at a particular dig. If it weren't for some seeding, there would be some pretty boring books written about a dig. Huh? I am with Ann on this. The digs were just not done in a manner even remotely resembling professional. C'mon, backhoes for uncovering glass? Apparently the thrill of the scores overshadowed the importance of the digs from an historical perspective. I remember reading about people being chased off properties (site dumps) with shotguns, meaning that anyone could walk up to a dig and throw in anything they wanted into a dig, which, after a good rain you'd never know the difference. And we'll never know till they fess up, which they won't, they never do unless it is on their deathbed. I think this is what Galen is trying to spell out. It is not a witch-hunt, it is a search for the truth. Basically, you have found some marbles in the ground. How can you prove to me that the dig wasn't seeded? You can't. You can only vouch for yourself. Do you see what I mean? In the end identifying marbles will come down to three things: experience, color, and construction. But mostly experience. Certainly and hopefully not from some info provided from a dig. You can't wish this away as it is too late. The damage has been done. My mind is made up as well. And not likely to change.
