  2. I think it's good to have one little "eyeball" in the photo because it gives an idea of how shiny the marble is, and the surface texture.
  3. Are these NLRs? Zebras? These Multicolor Swirls...are they NLRs?
  4. Is this Peltier called a Polar Bear? And is it an NLR? Are one or both of these Rainbos called Woodies?
  5. Blood n Bones (or whatever it is) isn't fluorescent. There is some space between some of the ribbons on the fourth marble, but not much. I think of a solid core as something that can't be taken apart, or can't be divided into separate ribbons. I thought this one might be a divided core, but maybe it could go either way.
  6. Onionskin or Joseph's Coat? All the colors appear to be solid rather than transparent. And does it have eight panels? Onionskin or Joseph's Coat? I'm guessing Onionskin.
  7. Would this Akro with transparent red be referred to as a Blood n Bones? Is this an Onionskin or a Joseph's Coats? And why? I'm going with Onionskin because it appears there is white underneath all the colors. Is that referred to as a skin? It has been buffed. Would this Onionskin be considered lobed? Solid core or divided core? These marbles and more will be for sale next week on Ebay. I'm continuing to sell off a good portion of my marble collection. http://www.ebay.com/...=&_trksid=p3686
  8. If I remember correctly, the 43 grand on the Onionskin Mica was by a nonpaying bidder, and the actual sale price was about $11,100. I think the above-mentioned, and the Confetti Mica are pretty fair crown jewels.
  9. No, it's not magnetic. My pictures suck. It looks much better here, with the blue from the sky reflecting on it. Tiger Eye

    Peltier Submarines

So a Submarine was named only for one particular color combo with an opaque-looking transparent/translucent base, and not for a particular type? Seems like the name "Submarine" refers more to the type of base than to the colors.

OK, here are the best backlit pictures I could take. The first marble is a Spiderman with aventurine, shown in the second photo, four views of it. The other three backlit marbles are shown in the third photo in this order: (top right) Spiderman, (top left) Superboy, (bottom left) Spiderman. My opinion is that all four are Submarines. Other opinions welcome!
  13. 5/8" on the nose, and Mint, with a little as-made melt spot.
  14. Maybe it's Steve abbreviated to "Stv".
  15. Here are the two most expensive marbles I've ever seen sell on ebay, both sold by Marblealan. One is a floating mica onionskin ($11,100), the other a confetti mica ($10,100). Even though those prices are completely outrageous, if I had the $, I just might spend it on those two marbles.
  16. In the title they say 1"±, and later on, they add a note that it is 1-3/16"...big difference.
  17. Well, they got it. (I didn't mean to offend anyone...I have a hard time comprehending such sums of money.)
  18. Gorgeous! I have a Popeye on the way in those same colors. Hope it's mint, like it was described.
  19. ...I know it's a nice marble, but...sorry, I just don't get it... Marble

    Peltier Submarines

Yes and yes. The bubble glass looks transparent, and there is transparent or translucent just under some of the red ribbons. That's what I meant about the perimeter of the marble being more translucent/transparent than the center. But this marble isn't transparent in the sense that you can actually see through most of it.

    Peltier Submarines

The best I can tell you is that the top right one has a translucent base that allows some light to pass through it, but is only minimally transparent. The center is denser or less translucent, and I don't see any color dipping into the marble... The top left marble is much more transparent, but it also has some areas of translucency, and is denser in the center, and I don't see any color dipping into the marble. Maybe I'll try to get better backlit pictures later.

    Peltier Submarines

Thank you! No, I was initially asking about top right, but actually I'm wondering about all of them except bottom right, which is completely opaque. The others are all at least somewhat translucent/transparent, and top left is the most transparent.

    Peltier Submarines

I think I may have a Submarine! And the pattern forms a perfect corkscrew. It's the Superboy in the upper left of the first picture. Here's what it looks like backlit. This one might be called transparent, though parts of it look more translucent. Opinions, please, thanks.
  24. Both of those are equally fantastic (posts #1 and #11).
